is the wire onto the oil pressure switch by the oil filter?

Have you connected the wire to the oil pressure switch?

does the oil switch on the engine have 2 connections?

it did have 2 conections but i replaced it with the switch off my 1.3 engine as i dont have an oil pressure guage so didnt need both connections

how long have you ran the engine for? an idea would be to get an oil pressure guage, plug the pipe into where your oil switch goes and crank the engine (with the coil disconnected) and see whats going on in there. if you have oil up top i would think it would be a dodgey switch to be honest though :)

Just plug the spade bit of wire into the spade connector chap, the only difference is the 1400 engine would have had the electric sender unit in it, it doesnt matter you can leave the other bit unplugged.
