I am running two amps - one to run all 4 speakers (4 channel)

And one 2 channel to run the sub.

Question I have is that How many RCA/Phono leads should I need?

I am currently running 3 sets - 2 for the 4 channel and 1 for the 2 channel...

Am thinking that I only need to run two from the H/U? and link the amps with the 3rd cable?

HELP!

If your H/U has three sets then run three sets, if it only has two, run two and split them in the boot with a set of Y leads

I am running 3 sets from the HU....

2 going to the 4 channel amp and one going to the 2 channel.

Is that correct - or sould I use just 2 from the HU and use the 3rd to link the amps?

Has the headunit got three sets on it though? Some have front, rear and sub and some have rear and sub and some have sub only

Yes dude - there are 3 lots from the HU, no idea what they are for but they are different colours!:)

(Its a Clarion btw)

You should run all three sets then, using a set to go between the amps is only splitting the signal, which will jeopardise the sound quality and it weaker

If it sounds crap, you might have them connected in the wrong order. As there's three, its a safe bet you have Front, Rear and Sub - maybe you have the sub plugged into one of the 4ch amp inputs? Also check the levels on the amps, make sure they're filtering the right frequencies etc

Yeah, 3 sets from the h/unit is the best option, make sure they are colour coded so like razorjack has said you dont end up running sub frequencies to your front speakers etc, frequency should be set at about 80Hz for the sub and run the rest either full or on high pass depending on what you prefer.
