Not holding out hopes of getting it back, but just in-case anyone hears/sees of anything.

Unfortunately it wasnt worth enough to consider some decent security so it didn't have any. Really wishing I had done now.

Cheers Matt

Sorry to hear that, but on a car as easy to steal as a nova you really need it even if its not worth much but yours looked ok mate

im not far from keighley area so il keep my eyes open around here.

unlucky though mate, my only advice is to check the local units to see if its about and just generally ask about, failing that in a few weeks check all the for sale sections and ebay to see if someone is stupid enough to sell your bits :)

How many of those can you get into without damaging much with your bare hands, and start them in about 10s without having to worry about alarms and immobilisers? They're targeted because they're easy, and there's a modifying scene round them, so it's easy to sell bits.

Wounded for ya dude i cant see it being round here but ill keep my eyes peeled, id be checking local petrol stations see if theyve had it doing bilkins and or got it on cctv, also check your local scrappers asap as iirc stupot89 aint far from you and his was stolen to weigh in, could be related!

right some good news

Police have actually done something useful and found it. Looks like joy riders took it and as it had a student level of petrol in it only managed to get a few miles. To those in the area i live in wilsden they made it to thornton lol.

No idea on condition, but there's about 250 quids worth of audio equipment i doubt is still in there.

I also had my driving license in the glovebox, doubt thats there either

Apparently I'll have to pay fees to have it released, dont know what they amount to but not looking forward to it. They'll probably keep it a few days to take finger prints etc etc

Copper ringing tonight about 9 to inform me of more.

28-11-09, 06:08 PM
They will probably charge you around £115 to get it released and like £12 a day after the first day. no doubt you will have to get the money back through insurance.

glad they have found it though, hopefully not too much damage.

As of April 1st 2009 the charges changed

£150 recovery
£20 a day storage

If it was dumped in a ditch, or needed specialist recovery (this can be asmuch as soemtimes because the steering lock was on a full right/left etc) they can charge upto £200

And before anyone argues, i used to work in a police recovery garage untill about 3 weeks ago, so mehh :p

Dave.

Yes, it is ***** but at the end of the day, you cant expect the recovery firn to go out (sometimes at the lieks of 3am) use their truck and their diesel to pick up your car and store it for you somewhere in a alarmed dry unit whilst the polce do their fingerprints all for free can you?

If you go through your insurance, they will pay the fee's etc, but if you dont them thats the price you have to pay. £150 for someone to go and get your car, anytime in the day any day of the week so tis safe and sound isnt that bad tbh

Mike
28-11-09, 06:58 PM
Aye, as Dave said, the recoverys fees ecsalate if specialist recovery is needed.

I got stung an extra £118 for a flat bed (dont really know how else they were planning on recoring it though :S ) , an then an extra £58 for a "winching" fee as its had no wheels on. Obviously, those figures are less VAT.

i was just going off prices when i used to be a naughty boy back in the days lol

i agree though that it is very **** having to pay to get your own car back after it being nicked, however somebody has to pay the recovery firm.

Do the fees go down as an insurance claim then? I cant really afford to lose a year's no claims.

Given cover is called third party, fire and theft I'd be very surprised if your next insurance policy didn't want to know about it. It's a bit crap but basically they expect your car to get stolen again if it's been stolen before

if it gets stolen and you dont claim does that still affect the policy.

blue_peg_16v

You DO NOT have to claim on your insurance if you dont want to. And as claiming so they pay £200 worth of fee's. then write your car off, then have to buy it back once its beenw ritten off and then see your insurance renewal go up, you may aswell just pay the fee's out of your own pocket :thumb:

Got it back! 170 quid worse off but it's back.

Subs, 6x9s and head unit all gone. They even ate the sausage roll that was on back seat.

Car is fine though, handbrake and tyres ok so i think they just nicked it for the sound system. Probably a pre-meditated thing if thats the case as the sound stuff was mostly hidden away.

Ignition barrel a knackered but i think that's a result of the steering lock being broken. The hazard switch was used, and they got in the non destructive way if you get me

For some reason the gear knob is gone too...glad it had my original rather than my brushed ally richbrook one in at the time.

Going to report the gear thats been stolen as it's quite hard to find stuff and quite rare so if it turns up in a raid or whatever I might see it again, not holding out hopes...

Oh...and there's fingerprint dust EVERYWHERE!! lol

Think ill be installing some cunning security measures should I keep it.

That chimp is brilliant. I'm thinking more of a wire taped to the back of steering wheel hooked up to a battery in the boot, activate it when i get out lol.....wouldnt try nicking it then would they lol

Sod alarms, I want some really aggresive vigilante security now lol then the same bast4rds can try nick the thing again.
