I recieved a letter from the council today telling me to remove the car from my back garden within the next 10 days as it's not on a hard standing surface and curb hasn't been lowered. It's been there nearly 3 months already but just not had the time to get a drive sorted (only lived in house 7 months) I've had to put it there because I've no where else to put it and I was going to use it to practice welding on and then have it as a track toy but now it looks like I'm going to have to get rid of it because the council are miserable f**ks theres no where else I can put it.SO IM NOT A HAPPY CHAPPY TODAY:mad:

More to the point, its quite likely a neighbour has grassed you in. Not many other ways the council would find out.

Is it a rented property or what? If its your own land, i very much doubt the council can force you to move it, regardless of where its parked. If its your own house, i'd be taking a visit to citizens advice or a solicitor.

My thoughts too, some snobbed up neighbour has probably notified the council about your car parked in your garden. The council don't go around looking for these things normally 95% of the time it's a tip off.

Why don't you call the council to see what it would cost to lower the pavement? And see what it would cost to get the area under the car to be a hard surface and leave the rest of the garden as it is that way it should be ok according to them.

...Or go to B&Q and buy four paving slabs. Put them under the wheels. Win, instant hard surface lol

It is a council property but I wouldn't have enough time to get the pavement lowered and a drive sorted because there only giving 10 days and even if they did give me more time I haven't got the money at minute with crimbo coming up so I've no option really.if it is a neighbour who's tipped them off why can't they just mind their own business it's not hurting no one just sat there in MY GARDEN.

if u apply for planning permission to build a driveway they cant touch it until the appilcation goes through mate, thats how i got around it, but eventually, they want to see a driveway there

right, it is a council property. and you have to ask both the landlord & the local council for permission to fit a drop kerb & form a driveway, so I'm guessing you'd better ring the council & see if they have a lockup garage to rent

i phoned the council today to ask if i put a hard standing surface down can it stay and they said i would have to ask for permission but the car will still have to be removed within the time stated in the letter until a decision was made so it looks like it will have to go:(

Fook em!

Strip it down so it can't be moved!

If it's 75% incomplete, it's not a roadworthy vehicle, so can't be moved!

IMO the neighbour is fed up with their neighbourhood looking like a scrapyard. Stop being so trailerpark & find a decent home for your car. having it sat on a lawn or dirt floor will help it rot like a peach.

this is another thing that i'm p!ssed off about theres a few garages behind my house that are council garages and theres about three that are empty and i've had my name down on the list for a couple of years now and every time i ask them if there are empty they say no they are all taken

Maybe this isnt the stage in your life to be 'building' a project car.

It is nearly as much fun to oserve, rather than put all your disposable income into a money pitt.

Its his life, let him do what he wants, you have no right saying he should think about doing other stuff!
He did not ask for your advice ! For all you know his garden my be very nice and the car could just be neatly parked there, not every one has lots of money!!!

got it to practice welding on really and turning it into a track toy was just an idea i had and didn't really mind how long it took but looks like it's not happening now/yet.

Maybe this is a good time to call the council and explain you have been been on their list for x amount of time waiting for a garage to free up, with x amount of garages not having anything stored in them, to store this car so it isn't an eye sore in your back garden. Maybe they might look into it and free up one of the garages if they are not in use. Worth a try may hit two birds with one stone. :thumb:

Nailed it. I had a car in the back yard once. I felt a right pikey. I always put it back together and covered it when finished though.

Do you make a mess/have bits all over the place?

TBH I wouldn't be happy if I looked out of my window and saw a car project 24/7 next door.

At least no one could see mine.

i had the problem with someone on my street complaining because i built a garage without planning permission and i was running a business. Council came round and permitted my garage as it was within limits...just! And as for running a business it was because i stripped an Astra Gsi.

Nosey cow had a video camera on us so we were going to get her done for harrassment because the council had proved i was legal hence the camera should of been removed.

I understand now that it may of been a bit hilly billy but come some nicer weatehr my garage is being removed...im getting a unit and ill have a nice garden instead.

I must be lucky, i've been doing homers/had various projects and umpteen cars over the past 4 years and had no bother, my dads van used to sit up the drive, i had 2 corsa, and my stepmums car parked in the street, and i live in a keyhole

And i stripped an Astra GSi for spares in the street last week and left the shell sitting on top of a set of alloys for a day before it was uplifted.

Lol i had this a few years ago :D

I had three novas two just fitted on the drive and one i had to put on the grass. My next door neighbour hated me with a passion which was amusing so i just made even more mess etc. They grassed me up, but her dad was something to do with the council so as you can imagine i had loads of random ****e aimed at me thing is there was **** all they could do as it was a owned Home. So i made it even worse for them, they ended up selling the house

Nowt you can really do tbh just get it cleaned up and the garden looking "normal" again lol.

the car is parked neatly next to the hedge with a cover over it and the rest of the garden is nice and neat so i dont see why it should bother any of the neighbours and i have'nt upset any of them:confused:
