View Full Version : whats the best way to go with tuning a sr
i just want to no peoples opinions really and weather my ideas would work. these are my ideas a e16se 1.6 bottom end a 1.4 sr head port and polished with twin 40's with a cam and a 4 branch and a full exhaust system im looking for just over 100bhp is this a sensible target as the car is an every day driver so want it to drive ok:thumb:
the mods you have planned seem fine ..
EWWWWWWWW why the hell goto the trouble of swapping bottom ends, to keep the crappy 1.4 carb head!!!!
the 1.6 engine on its own is approx 100bhp when fitted.... stick the 40's and cam on that and you will be laughing, and WILL do decent mpg if setup by someone competant (Dans 1650 'high spec' 1.6 8v would do 35mpg just bimbling around and about 30 on track when being spanked lol)

ii agree with stuary...weight up how much pound per bhp you would get...hence why the xe is such a cheap power gain.
stick the 1.6 in it and save ya cash
well i wanted to retain the original cam cover and wasnt sure if i could do this with the 1.6 as i want the engine to look original ish and i like the look of bretts engine in his sr
