well....it doesnt have air con it doesnt have pas, thus i am left with 2 less pulleys to run the belt over.

i wondered the best way to over come this.

use a bit of string to get the length of the belt required, go to your local motor parts suppliers, explain what you need and the length it needs to be

yeah i realise that bit mate, lol, what im asking is do people just run the belt around the water pump and alternator or do they make a pulley up??? etc etc

if i run a short belt around only the water pump alternator and tensioner the water pump will be rotating the opposite direction to how it used to.

Ahh, I see what you mean now. I'm sure some engines came without PAS and Aircon, mine didn't so has a belt that runs off the bottom pulley, across the alt, round a pulley then across the water pump on its way back down. I have a pic if you want to see?

yeah go for it, that'd be super!
what car would that have come from though?

Mine is a Saab engine but its pretty much the same as the early Omega one.

I'm not sure if the previous owner of the engine had fitted the belt from another V6 though to delete the PAS and/or air con.

Pic is a bit grainy where I've upped the brightness so you can see the belt.

[edit] BTW, if you have plastic rocker covers like those ^ do yourself a favour and swap them for metal ones lol

lol, thats how i did it in the end anyway! thanks for re-assuring me! i wasnt sure if the belt would put enough pressure on the water pump but it obviously works ok like that! cheers everyone!
