I will be fitting a GSI lump into my car very shotley but from an insurance point of view - Will it cost me more because i have added the engine myself rather than bying the car with it already fitted (GSI) ??
Also apart from insurance and DVLA is there anything else i have to do to make the transplant legal??
Sorry if there stupid questions but im a bit in the dark!
Cheers

Some insurance companies will charge more, and want an engineers report, as there's a 'fire hazard' if an engine's been replaced. So i was told by some of them when i rang up for quotes on a valver.

they do a search on the vehicle and the reg no will tell them what make/model the car really is.
Just buy a GSi.

I see!!
I dont want to buy a GSI as it will cost me more + the car i have now is almost a GSI spec anyway and its got my intails on the plate AJM !
So looks like some insurance companys will charge more but if i shop around i will be ok ??

LV charge some kinda percentage for the engine mods
lets say your quoted ?700 for the 1.2 nova
they may say 10% for any engine mod
so your ?700 would become ?770
phone LV and ask
tell em all the mods and get a quote
i was surprised - u might be too

You can move the plate, all you have to do is re-register the other car, It was ?25 last time I heard.
