really wanna get rid of the the roof guttering, dont see the point in them and look out of place on the car. has anyone done this before, its not as simple as just hacking them off as two panels meet where you need to cut so will leave 5mm gap the length of the roof, what shall i do????:thumb:

you mean actually removing the lip that comes out just below the roof? dont do it, the windows dont really line up with the roof line and it will look really odd. dont do it!

Stops water pouring in/over the doors when it rains. Its the join from the roof panel to the body, you'd have to weld a plate in there to join the two skims back up.

What to do? Leave it well alone.

When the classic mini lot do it, it makes the car more rounded or more bubbly, if you want that with a Nova buy a corsa

for saloon racing, the works ones only had the front & rear bits cut off..........

i agree with the above posts...it would look shoite, as it is, the rear quarter window looks out of proportion with the rest of the car

This has been covered lots of times on here and it's a nightmare to do ! lots and lots of grinding, welding, grinding, welding, grinding, welding and filling sanding filling and so on, will take ages and ages to get looking good and strong at the same time, really think about it before starting as theres no going back, but yeh imo it dose look good once done as it makes the car look a little more modern but dont under estimate how long it'll take !

that looks alot more rounded, because the whole back end is different to ours, look at the lights, boot, spoiler, bumper. all rounded.

Southie, could you chop our back end on lol...

Yeah they made them as like a semi production proto type in 92 just to show what they could do !

On the base of the Corsa with the 1.5-Turbodiesel-engine the research car was developed, in order to show the efforts in fuel and emissions reductions.
With the Eco3 the goal was set to reduce the fuel consumption of 5.1 liter/100km in the euro mix cycle by 22% to 4 litres. Therefore extensive changes were made to the drive train and the body

The engine of the Eco3 was based on the turbo-Diesel engine, available for the Corsa for the '92 model year. The engine modified for the Eco3 had a power of 53kW/72PS at 4600RPM. The maximum torque was 143Nm at 2600RPM

In order to obtain the focused fuel consumption values, the following technical changes were made:
- reduction of the oil pressure
- use of synthetic oil in engine and transmission
- installation of an automatic start/stop device, which switched the engine off in idle. To restart the engine, the accelerator pedal had to be pressed slightly

For a better efficiency of the engine, an air cooler was added, whereby an increase of the power and the torque were reached.

A further reduction of the fuel consumption was reached by modifications on the transmission. The final ratio was changed from 3.74 to 3.42, and the fifth gear from 0.71 to 0.63.

As aerodynamic drag has a substantial influence on the fuel consumption, particular attention was paid to the rolling friction and the air resistance.
For the Eco3 friction-poor radial tires were used, which were developed together with Goodyear and which were already used on the research vehicles Impact und Eco2. Due to the special tread and rubber mixture the rolling friction was reduced by 50%.

The aerodynamics were improved by body modifications, so that a drag coefficient (cw-value) of 0.33 could be reached. The following changes were done:
- modified rear bumper with lateral outline edge for the air flow
- larger front bumper with 40mm rubber lip
- side skirts
- optimization of the outside mirrors
- flushed wheel covers
- removing of the gutter rails
- lower the car by 8mm

Rear end looks like an old uno turbo

I would lower 60mm, get a good set of wheels, and some rear surrounds!!

Pretty big job to remove them. You have to cut and weld, cut and weld. As if you dont, as you cut, the roof will separate from the body. And when all said and done looks pretty naff TBH. Just leave them. You can always tell if a mods worth doing as others will have done it!!!

One piece side skirt/rear bumper combo is naff.

The whole thing just looks off IMO.
