fan switch that's into the side of the rad?

deawoo nexia 1500 16v. iirc 85-95 degrees.

i have one from a jaguar XJK 6 litre v12, 83 to 93 degrees.

dont bother with mtech.. uber expensive.

why not rig up a dash switch in parallel to the fan switch, and fit a diesel stat??? the whole engine will run about 5 degrees cooler, and if stuck in traffic, you can manually put it on.

Im also interested in one of these switches.. Are the daewoo & jag items a direct swap? And is it worth it for just a couple of degrees less?

direct fit. even my sister would get it working.. standard connector didnt fit on mine, but thats easely fixed.
mine is in 9 or 10 different cars (Citroen, peugeot etc) but jag v12 sounds cooler lol

standard c14nz kicks in at 100 and cools to 95 degrees.

i just went through the Facet book at the local partsshop. nexia 1 wasnt on stock, de jag one was, so took that one.

m22x1.5 is what you need.

i havent driven mine since i fitted it, but on the dyno the tech 1 was at 102 degrees and the fan didnt start. the meter on the dash was just halfway as normal.

my problem was that after every run we needed to wait because of the temp. (remapping the ECU)

So standard - 100dgree to 95
any of the others - 95dgree to 93 (roughly)
Cool! it amazes me somtimes what people find out on herelol have some rep!:thumb:

Why do you need it to run cooler? They are ment to run as they do at 98.

The same could be said about an oil cooler.. its just a precaution i suppose since the engines sat in a smaller bay & in case of nailing it around a track?

Bay size wont matter at all, the stat and rad fan do all the cooling that's needed...
My let was cooler on track then it was on the motorway (water) lol

Very true i know! I guess people just do it for extra peace of mind.. But like you say they are made to run at 98, and its probably for a reason..

Make sure the fan comes on and cool it down, if it does. Be happy and leave it alone.

with the spec im running, for piece of mind i want it to start cooling that little bit earlier, the one ive bought in the end is this

its from a lada lol but it switches exactly the same as the mtech one, so saved £20!

a rad fan switch will not keep a car cool on its own, it will just stop it boiling in traffic.. whereas a lower temp stat will

i already have a sbd stat, and your quote has stated one of my main reasons :)

i paid cost price for it iirc, one of the perks of spending ££££ with them, plus being a sbd one, it will give me a 20 bhp gain lol!

Graeme
