now i know all you lot are gonna go 'its easier and cheaper to put in a bigger engine';) but is there anything else that can be done to the 1.2 spi engine, apart from all the things in the article section. just a bit curious is all :)

That depends on the budget. Ultimately, excluding whats in the articles, there is nothing worth doing. Forced induction, nitrous oxide, an upgrade to sequential fuel injection, a rebore to a larger displacement are all possible, but a waste of time and money.

when it says in the article about a 1.4sri head, is this an easy thing to replace.

How clued up are you with the spanners? Its a few hours work for a novice but removing and fitting an 8 valve head isn't all that difficult.

so it is a straight swap then, what about the injection system

You'd need to get the SRI head skimmed by a machine shop to lower the compression. The injection system is more complicated, you'd have to study the wiring diagrams in the Haynes manual for a bit.

efa ;)

imho sri head, T40's and a 270-300degree cam would see you right... plus its ALL transportable to a 1.6 at a later date for even more go :)

You'll be best to measure the compression ratio to make sure it's not already been skimmed too much.
