hello im wanting to no is there any difference in the early type rods that had the mahle pistons?

if so, yes the rods are the same.

its an early mk2 astra engine and the code says j20xe, i havnt seen an engine code like this before

my early mk2 astra gte engine is a pre cat one and code is 20xe no c or j present

i took the pistons out and they are mahle ones and the stamp on the block is hh3

they do have a j stamped on them but it is called a 20xe for some reason :thumb:

they all had mahle pistons including the c20let, what is it you want to no mate ??? :thumb:

is there any difference in the early con rods them the later type ones? i.e are they stronger?

from what i remember from reading threads on vaux-sport is that the early cranks are better and the later blocks are better, however theres no real difference with the rods and pistons

early crank is made from a better quality of steel than the later, rods are exactly the same but the early 20xe pistons are forged where as the later ones are not iirc :thumb:
