im going to be moving in to a small flat soon and have been looking into costs etc...is it me or is council tax a complete and utter pull your pants down and bend you over,.. rip off?!
for a flat valued at £68,000 to £88,000 you pay £130 per month.. what exactly do i get for that? the bins emptied every 2 weeks? it'd be cheaper to take it to a private waste disposal firm :wtf:
and lets be honest, i'm not likely to need the fire brigade because im not planning on burning the place down and the police are a complete waste of time, i wouldn't even bother ringing them if my flat got broken into.
what else do you get for your money??

i pay £111 a month on a 2 bedroom house what a rip off! the other day a bulb went out on one of the street lights in our cul-de sac, so i went to the town hall to tell them, took them 4 weeks to get a bulb slipped in. wasters!
its not the thing i would normally do but when you pay that money each month, why not!
council tax should be abolished.flytipping ftw!!!!
they fukk all but cunnts

from wirral council website...
Band A up to and inc. £40,000 - £960.11
Band B £40,001 - £52,000 - £1120.12
Band C £52,001 - £68,000 - £1280.15
Band D £68,001 - £88,000 - £1440.16
Band E £88,001 - £120,000 - £1760.20
Band F £120,001 - £160,000 - £2080.23
Band G £160,001 - £320,000 - £2400.27
Band H more than £320,000 - £2880.32
i'm guessing a 1 bed flat away from the dodgy areas will be in band D, maybe E....that would be £120 per month for band D or £146.68 per month on a band E
Isn't it the value of the property in 1991 or something daft like that?
Meh. I pay something like £1160 a year, had a minor reduction (like a couple of quid) because we don't have the green bin collected (garden waste), mainly as the garden is only about 12' square :tard:
I'd happily pay the fire service. Just in case my house caught fire I wouldn't want them to turn up and demand a few thousand pounds before they turn on the hoses lol

Call them and see if you can "Remove some options" on your council tax!
Fire & police are always usefull to have. Even if you dont plan on calling them you dont wanna have to one day to be told that you have removed their help from your council tax bill.
fire and to a lesser extent the police are like an insurance policy really.
RJ, yeah its the value in 1990ish that dictates the price.
Looks like I'm better off in the sarf as ours is a band E by the wirral and a D here lol.
When I take stuff to the dump (oops recycling centre) and they want me to sort it into xyz bins they get it dropped on the floor as I pay far too much CT to bother doing their job for them!
While I think its too much money as lots gets wasted in the buerocracy (spelling), its about the only "fair" way to share the burden of the costs rather than only charging for what is/isnt used lol

- rep I'm a southie and live in the NW ;)

What if your house wasnt built then, is it free?
What if your house wasnt built then, is it free?
LMFAO good point :p
Just thinking, the population of the town where I live is about 43,000 - lets call that about 25,000 private dwellings, each paying about £1200 a year council tax. Hmm, £30m a year income for the local council just from the residents of the town alone. No wonder the local council is full of overpaid wasters lol
they 'work out' what the new price would have been in the 90's lol
RJ dont forget that scumbags dont pay it ;)

Im sure you can be sent down if you dont pay it????
And would you pay it recently if you were living in leeds where their binmen have been on strike for 3months??
I fukkin wouldnt
yeah you do get sent down for non payment but this does not quash the bill, you must still pay it on your release.
RJ dont forget that scumbags dont pay it ;)
Hmm. £3m from yeovil has I think just turned into about £30k lol
scumbags = dole scum... They at the very least get "assistance" with it, if not waived completely
Council tax and road tax are a disgrace IMO.
You get feck all in return.
Round my town only thing the council does is cost cutting.
Roads are shocking to say the least, holes, sh*te surface ect.
The only people who don't pay council tax is dole blaggers.
