Exhaust question?

Are 1300 and 1400 sr manifolds the same,as in the angle at which the downpipe attatches to the exhaust system etc etc?

Only reason I ask is I have an xe manifold to suit a 1400sr exhaust and im
wondering what my options are when it comes to buying an exhaust as the exhaust I get has to have the correct tip for a mk1 bumper as the cutout is in a different place on a mk1 to mk2 bumper iirc!

Ok on the Ashley website the bore of the sr system is 2",is this large enough for an xe?

Also when you order an Ashley do they come with the mating flange already on the system etc or is there any welding required?

Come with the mating flange, a bell end do you call it? (snigger)

I had to have mine cut off and a bigger one made and welded on to fit my manifold/downpipe (Janspeed 1.4SR 4:1) .

FYI Greenwood Silencers did it for a fiver and are pretty local.

Also... when I ordered my Ashley system through Chris Astley for a 1.3SR, they supplied a Mk2 backbox. Chris Astley contacted them and they said they didn't do the mk1 backboxes anymore, but they'd find the old jig and do a one off for me, at no extra cost.

I guess what I'm saying is be VERY specific when placing your order

I've just emailed potn who are apparently an agent for Ashley and they are telling me that there is no difference between mk1 and mk2 backbox's:mad:

So I'm not sure what to do now as I can't seem to find a contact number for Ashley direct anywere!

Mk1 exhausts come out at an angle.

Try going through Chris Astley then, they sorted the problem I had with the mk2/mk1 backboxes.

I rang Ashley direct and due to the demand for mk1 backboxes being none existant they have stopped making them,however they did say they will make me one up for no extra cost which is a good result!

They did say that the tip won't follow the line of the car and that it will exit at an angle but I quite like that look anyway so meh
