Same as using a manta, so all the same parts...

And, you'll be lucky if the chevette rear axlw will take anything more than standard power.

You'll need a manta a rear axle then

Said it beforem say it again... Manta B ftw ;)

I'll link you up with my mates chevette build...

My nextdoor neighbour has 3 chevettes, one is being scrapped.

The chevette's in theat vid are all HSR slant 4's.

Have you thought about a Talbot Sunbeam? A mate built a st170 powered one with 5link rear axle, that was good, then it got changed for a 4age engine :)

the mk1 cavalier, manta B chevette & kadett c are actually very similar underneath, as is the much later & vastly underrated isuzu piazza

the manta b 1800 with a 5 speed box would be the obvious choice for donor bits, ie: mounts, sump, box etc, but they are getting very rare these days..

the next choice would be omega 2.0, but obviously it would need more welding work.

the chevette/kadett rear axle is made from toffee, it can cope with about 110hp & not a lot more.... I think the manta one is too wide. you may need to get one from, wait for it... a lada riva. the kit car boys use them & they can take some power.

get searching kadett c stuff on the forums

You can fit a Manta A rear axle in the chevette as a power upgrade. I hear you on the underated-ness of the Piazza Turbo, I actually nearly bought one, then I bought the Manta lol What the feck was I thinking!! Lotus handling and LSD and 2litre turbo engine lol They're getting rare now as well.

I'm thinking Omega for cheapest option!

I'll go halves and steak the v6 box and prop for my Manta :)

ross's chevette (http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=84948&id=513129435)

Not sure if you can access his profile? there's other albums on there of the chevette, including the one sof when we set it on fire lol

Gareth's Kadett (http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=82167&id=681950315&op=6)

Again another option, probably not the cheapest. That car got sold at Uni as he was really short for cash for £400. Guy came over from Ireland with a 2 tier car transporter just for it... Worth alot more now :(

You're always going to need the manta parts... Hence why a manta b is in the long run probably the cheapest option.

Chevette would involve the most work, but yeh, those would be the parts. then wither 1.8 engine mounts or custom and RWD dizzy conversion if you're not running a coilpack.

manta 1800
big wing sump.
getrag box

manta A
rear axle

manta 1800s

sump
oil pick up pipe
engine mounts
ignition
gertrag gearbox (265 is the best! but an 240 will work aswell. make sure you get the right box, as there are many different models)
i'm not sure about the transaxle, iirc 1 from an automatic box would work, but i'm not sure.

for kadettC the use a manta 1800s mount with a kadett 1600 rubber on 1 side, and an A omega mount and rubber on the other side.
iirc that would be the same for a manta/ascona.

also possible is an A omega gearbox (r25). cheaper and easyer to find then a 265. and having a shaft welded and balanced isnt expensive.
