For the internuts!!
Saw a hack online last night and decided to share with you all. Seems to have worked ok so far (for me that is!)
Please note that it works on Vista and only increases your PC's internet speeds, if your router/exchange/line/ISP limits the speed in any way then dont expect results!
Ok first step
www.speedtest.net and find out a base speed that your running. Last night before doing this I was doing .60mbps
Press start & search "cmd" and RIGHT CLICK command promt & run as administrator (should you be old enough to have permissions that is! lol)
Type the following commands (separatly):
1.CD/
2.netsh int tcp show global
3.netsh int tcp set global chimney=enabled
4.netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal
5.netsh int tcp set global congestionprovider=ctcp
6.netsh int tcp show global
to each of these you would get the response "Ok." if you have something else then you have done something wrong or haven't got the permissions to do it!
These commands bassically opens up your computers ability to run with what its given!
After doing this i had .74mbps
Before anyone mentions it yes my speeds are EPICLY slow, however im miles from the exchange & not getting a good line from it either!
Just tried this and its done nothing lol
If you use firefox try this
Open your firefox in a new tab and type about:config
Search for network.http.pipelining set it to 'true'
Same for network.http.proxy.pipelining set it to 'true'
Then, click to network.http.pipelining.maxrequest and put it '30'
Lastly right-click> New> Integer and type 'nglayout.initialpaint.delay' and put it '0' value
before : 6.91
After : 6.39
lol

im guessing that you guys have been limited buy various other factors.
it does seem to work better with mine!
It was only something thats supposed to open the capabilities of the computer, because for some reason its limited, Im guessing for stability. I dont use firefox but ill pop off and try that as I have got firefox on here

Setting your MTU correctly will be better for speed than that

hmmm im not too keen on using a programme that adjusts the regestry?? I would rather do it myself tbh!
Not only that but Norton does it for me. Keeps everything up together and optimal!

Norton would adjust your registry too, just like any other program
Lol @ Norton, that thing is a virus.

Norton kept me out of trouble. missus forever doing downloading stuff that could be a virus (pain in the ****!)
Also I have adjusted MTU so im hoping that i might get a bit more speed from it. Think ill do a quick speedy check!

BT rocks here. Sadly I only know that from experincing other peoples connections. Virgin/cable isnt an option.

I shall be speaking nicely to Virgin in April (renewal time).

Virgin are by far the best i've had (the ISP i mean lol)
even if you have a line fault they repay the cost of the call if there is a fault, i've never tested this, i just let someone else in the street report it lol
Speedtest.net is pretty rubbish aside from willy waving at download speeds
as I've said before, the BT speedtester is the only one really worth using, as that tells you what your IP Profile is, which is pretty important to judging your quality of providings
BT Speed tester doesnt work for me as it asks for a phone number ,apparently my number doesnt exist lol lol

i havnt got a clue what any of this download time nd that is like
me too,all this techno-jargon makes me want to vomit
The quicker the upload and download the better, that's as simple as it gets.

Ok well im just checking that out now. The speed tests have been pretty consistent.
FAIL
Keeps asking for a user name for my ISP, I dont actually have one! lol
I must admit speedtest isn't the most accurate of measurements, however t'is much easier to use. Only problem is that its running on IP tracking technology, which isn't the most accurate of tracking systems! Gives you a good idea of how fast your going
OKeeps asking for a user name for my ISP, I dont actually have one! lol
Yes you do, otherwise you wouldn't be online now lol
What does PING 105ms mean?
Thats the response time from you to your ISP (or possibly to the named server, not sure how Speedtest.net does it). Measures how quickly one packet of data takes to travel down the line, in your case 105 milliseconds. Thats actually pretty slow, ideally you want a ping time of under 50ms - or for gaming more round the 10ms region.

i found deleting system32 makes your computer generally work alot quick due to it freeing up a lot of cpu
