i got my standard lights which are H4 bulbs. i have a set of quads i want to putin but the lenses i have are H1s. I went scrappy today and seen that most cars are either H4 or H1/H7.

Does anyone have a drawing of how to convert H4 to either twin H1s (which would be easier) or H1/H7?

H1 and H7 only have one spade connector on them, they earth via the bulb body. This is the H4 layout:

Easiest way is to chop the H4 plug off, then run the dipped beam power to one bulb and the full beam power to the other bulb, earth them both on the earth circuit of the original H4 connector.

I wired mine in with a relay as well so the dipped beam would stay on along with the high beam (which makes sense when you have 4 lamps) to save the HIDs in the dipped turning off each time.

your "to switch" wire will be your high beam white wire.

so 87 is dip beams, 86 is high beams, 85 is grounded somewhere and 30 would be the live from the original loom...simples?

im sure thats the same as a cav fuel pump relay (and a million other things i expect)

nope the above is for one circuit only and after re-reading your 1st post id go with RJ but im not sure how he wired his relay into the circuit.

I'll write a guide when I wire in my next set of quadlights, but in the meantime mine is wired as per the above - 86 merely jumps onto the full beam wire.

Bubba, the diagram only covers wiring in the full beam (inner) lamps.

haha im insanely confused now, i f*cking HATE electronics!!!! (thus nova ownership)

lol i'll knock up a wiring diagram later :p

anyways, this is electrics, not electronics :d

it has wires and it uses electricity! therefore it causes me problems when i have to fiddle with it lol

Top is the existing H4 wiring.

Option 1
...is easiest, simply cut off the H4 plug and wire the Yellow to the outer/dipped lamp, White to the inner/full beam lamp. Earth both to the Brown wire. Disadvantage: outer/dipped lamp will turn off when you switch to full beams.

Option 2
...allows the outer/dipped lamps to stay on all the time. Wire both the Yellow AND white to the outer/dipped lamp. Earth to the Brown wire. Use a foglamp wiring kit and run a signal from the White wire (NOT the yellow) to #85 on the relay. Run a wire from #87 to the full beam lamp(s) and earth to the Brown wire. #30 on the relay is a mains power supply, #86 is earth. I also added a diode between the point where the signal wire comes off and where the white joins the yellow. Disadvantage: additional wiring and relay required./FONT]

ooo +rep for that

think ill do option one for now then sort out the relay stuff at a later date. since i have to relocate my indicators and sidelights
