I did this, cut down the horizontal bar and the top of the brake pedal welded to the battery tray for it to slot in to:

Weld it in the right place and you can fit the clip in the groove on the other side of the pedal so it keeps it all tight.

What I didn't realise when doing this is that the whole bracket is supposed to simply unbolt and come off, so I had to cut some of the bulkhead bracing so the clutch assembly can slide out, but no biggy (you can see it in the black bracing at the back)

I did the above but its a bastad to get off as you can't slide it that far to the left because of the studs holding the mount to the bulkhead. Will come off with some pursuasion tho!

Simps I probably copied off you then lol I knew somebody else had done it the same. To overcome the problem you mention I slotted the hole to the right and cut some of the edge off the black backing (can see in the pic) so it can slide left and right.

Thats a good fix. I just bolted it up and thought "how often is this gonna be coming off? Not very often me thinks!" lol

I reversed the brake pedal upside down, welded some steel plate on the end & bolted it through the scuttle base with 3 bolts. I always knew it couldnt be welded in place. It would be a pain to snap the welds, bolts would give some warning if they loosened.
I have even seen examples where the centre rod of the clutch pedal is welded into the side of the corsa's pedal.. Thats nuts.
