View Full Version : xe oil cooler
problems thinking where the fook to position the oil cooler?
at the mo is kinda wedged between the rad and front T piece from slam panel to valance jus so i can move the car round.
its a late type engine (dispak) and jus need some guidence and piccys if possible?
the flexi hoses are just kinda dangling along side the O/S tie bar so needs tidying up =/
Mines cable tied through the radiator and around the "T" on the slam panel.
And keep an eye on the routing of the pipes as they get pushed real close to the bottom pully with the steering on full lock!!
Unless youve got the other pipe setup with longer pipes that can sit under the tie bar.
yea it sits pretty much under the tie bars but looks as if it will rub through on the bottom valance over time lol how strong are these pipes? i just wanna go about it the proper way so i dont have future problems with getting w*nk pipes made up
i could bolt it to the bottom valance, but just needed a second opinion on pipe location :wtf:
cheers :thumb:

have you got custom made pipework for mounting it like that?
i think mine has got the feeds to the cooler on the sides of mine so would prob be best to mount near the 'T' bar and do something with the pipes...
will have a goose at mine in work tomorrow an get some piccys of mine and might see if i can mount it like that^^ and see what you all think :)

Yes pipework is custom
Just took cooler & sandwich plate to local hydraulic hose company & they made me some braided hose up.
Not expensive either.
To be honest unless your tracking the car its not really needed.
I have oil temperature gauge on my 'Stack' dash & it dont get excesiively hot. On track i saw it to 112degrees but normally driving it would be fine without the cooler
How mine used to be. Still in a similar place, just don't have the support bar anymore.

yes it will be tracked mainly as its a 2nd car :)
so on these braided hoses they had banjo one end for the sandwich plate an female ends for the cooler... did it go straight from hose to female end or was there a lil metal pipe in the middle? only because it looks tight in that pic lol
i fitted it in the top left corner of the rad. bolted to the mount of the spal blowing fan :) cut most of the stock piping and made some hoses :)
i'll make a pic tomorrow.

Nice tidy place for it to sit too, but i've binned it now.

if i tried that, it would get shafted on its 1st outing with road conditions out here =/

Wrap it in mesh, this would stop anything hitting it.

if your fused about having it then do, but to be honest you really only need them when racing around or circuit or towing something. so i just got rid of mine eeasily enough done get the 2.0 8v oil pice and unscrew youre and screw that one in and you dont nee one just extra weight and clutters up and the pipes are worrying close to things that could shred them and piss out everywhere1
