Same problems as any other gearbox tbh, there not actually a bad box biggest fault with them was the transfer box bolted to the side.

2nd gear synchro usually crunches when cold on most of them. To convert electrical to mechanical is a pain as it involves drilling a big hole in the case and also fitting a speedo drive on the diff.

There strong boxes tbh. Usually just the synchros go, but only like on other gearboxes....
Usual price £200-£300

80% crunch 1-2 when cold 40% crunch 1-2 all the time - even the M32 boxes do it (VXR) - its cos they are given massive death and rammed into 2nd....;)

As said - buy for £150 max - sell for £250lol

I personally aren't in a huge rush to get the F28 to get gangraped up the bum. I wouldn't pay more then £200 total MAX £150 is much better so I'm holding out for one.

People who are in the mod scene tend to sell them for £250+ as they know there are desperate people who want to buy one asap for a conversion.

I paid £700 for my F28,

But it was already coverted to 2WD, was drilled and tapped for a 2WD mount, had mechanical speedo and a quaiffe ATB Diff. It never crunches so i'm quite lucky in that respect!

you paid the extra money for the diff tbf which sounds fair enough. bet it makes a massive diffrence along with the equal legnth shaft?
was the shaft just the cav one shortend down?
and does anybody know of an equal legnth shaft for sale by any chance? lol

Cost of fixing?

Depends who you buy the synchro's off and if you know someone who will change it for you!:thumb:

Doesnt do it all the time just when youre do a quick gearchange, if youre doing a normal gear change then it doesnt do it!

500 for synchro kit plus 300+ labour unless ur confident in doing it yourself. That box is double the price it should be.

Nova_Tek

If that price is an average of parts and labour, as I wouldnt dream of trying to fix that myself, then it's a bit rich for me. Plus it's way far.
