I'm ordering a set of new gaz shortened body coilovers on Friday for my mk1,I am going to be running eccentric top mounts.

I'm just wondering whether anyone has ordered these and has had to have them adapted to run the eccentric top mounts

Any info would be much appreciated

I went to gaz direct for my shortned body dampers. They also shortned the damper rod for me.

They asked that i send them my top mounts and they machined the damper rod to suit the bearing then made me suitable top nuts.

theres a pic of the damper in my wip http://www.pngclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=88755&page=21&highlight=sequential

They offer an excellent service.

Agreed on the above, I regret not telling them I would be running eccentric topmounts when I ordered them as they said they would have modified it to suit.

However as I didn't, I returned the shock for them to thread it all the way down, from this:

To this:

So I can fit the topmount over the top spring platform and use the threaded insert in the top.

Only problem is a lot of piston now protrudes through the top of the topmount, but nothing a hole in the bonnet strengthening won't clear.

Thanks for the advice!

I've ordered a set of eccentric mounts from compbrake and the fella there said to order standard top mounts and then send them off to gaz who will make the struts to suit so that's what's happening!

Do the tops of the eccentric mounts need machining to fit through the strut top hole or will they fit?

The topmounts above are Compbrake ones. They fit in the strut hole, however a some people (including me) get a few mm machined off to offer slightly more adjustment.

OH, I'm having to put a few "mm" of spacers so the the nut doesn't run out of thread.

I wanted to extend the thread so I was able to screw it down further to tighten it up but wasn't sure it was possible really.

I'l contact GAZ
