Im getting down and dirty stripping this nova shell down, and have started to paint all the little black items black, to freshen the job up a little!

Was just wondering, for rusty items, i.e, the beam, how can I make it appear smooth on the paint finish?

Dec did a lovelly job of his black bits, lol and I want them to look the same:thumb:

DA with a relatively high grit to avoid cutting too much away, smooth hammerite or something similar.

I was wondering if caustic soda would be any use for stripping them back??

I used a sand blaster for some of my bits, but the best thing i ever did use was a wire wheel on the grinder, they are about a fiver from halfords, very lethal tool, it takes rust straight back to bare metal.

Its not actually that caustic so to speak. Its only sugar soap. More for cleaning dirt & grime off if anything.

I used a wire brush in the drill, and sand paper. Then used hammered finish Hammerite. See my WIP on page 1 for pics.
