hi i've just put a c20xe into my what was 1.4 sri nova. everything has been fine until today ...when i press the accelerator the engine starts to rev up but when it gets to a certain point ( top end of gear ratio) it starts dieing of power but when i change gear its fine until it gets to that point again i.e if i floor it... its as if its not getting enough fuel through. also the fuel pump it whining pretty loud too.
is the fuel pump on its way out or could it be something else?????

What fuel pump? and does it come on with the ignition?

check the above make sure its the right pump also check for blockages or other things

standard sri mpi fuel pump .... do you mean does it make that whining noise with igniton??? no it doesnt ??:thumb:

replace the pump with a 1.6 nova or any vauxhall that had the same pump and try rfom there

will give that a go cheers. maybe the fuel pump is on its way out. do they usually whine or buzz loud when they are about to pack in??:thumb:

They usually whine if they are constantly on with ignition rather than controlled by the crank sensor, and when low on fuel, i'd go for the changing the fuel pump as it would just be able to cope with the loads efficiently when in good working order

I can't remember what i picked up, mine was in tank, maybe an astra 1600? I'm not sure if yours will be in tank or out of tank, someone will know lol

that looks to be right to me, it says it fits your model, along with 2L 16V etc, usually they'll list every car it fits for more sales, even if its designed for the more powerful engine, im sure you can get cheaper than £60 though
