Ive got a set of alloys im looking to refurb and was thinking about using nitromors to strip the paint from them
would this be a good idea or would it damage the alloys?
i have used it befor on alloys and its been fine :)
just be careful not to use any wire wheels on alloy, or be careful not to scrape the surface

i was just going to paint it on and leave for a while then give them a rub with a scouring pad to remove

too right mate, I started refurbing my dads Cav Fanblades and although Nitromoors is good stuff and can be used alloy wheel paint is rather tough to remove. I took a good few days of messing about to remove the paint inside the wheel. Sand blast FTW :thumb:

I did my rocker cover yesterday and got really bored of it! its not as good as i thought it would be:roll:
I thought the same, i did it four times, jet washing it off half an hour after each application, I was getting less and less off everytime, and the burning sensation on my skin was starting to get a little irritating

Do you have to do any polishing/sanding once nitromoused? Also do thewheels look pitted after they've been treated?
I've been considering doing my 4 spokes to give them a lift. If I nitro them will they be good enough to polish up to bare metal ie a polished look?
Purely nitromorsed would be the best way to start polishing them, I just wasn't patient enough, mine weren't pitted just bare ally and only part stripped

I always get impatient. How long would it take to get a decent finish? Thing is my wheels look in good nick and I'm terrified of fecking them up by doing a crap job.
if you do it proberley its fine but you need patience, me and my bro stripped 4 cesaros with about 9layers of paint on back to bare metal eventually using 80grit to get the last bits off came up a treat after, small tip use wire wool ;)
see my nitromorse has worked ok sometimes and crap other times.
i dont like wire wool it seems crap with nitromorse.
and for polishing alloys, its not as easy as polishing aluminium thats for sure.
