View Full Version : Rear wheels?
Hi all, I have 4 195/50R15 Astra steel wheels on my car, and the offset is ET49,.. they look great on the car but I have a problem ! I had 2 people in the car plus me yesterday and the tyres were rubbing and squeaking, I got out to look and i couldn't see where it had been rubbing?
The car is lowered 40mm at the rear!
Has anybody had the problem before? Where abouts would it be rubbing (top or back of arch?) and how could i solve it?
It may sound silly me asking but surely 40mm is not to low to have 15s on the back?
id get some 195/45/15. or you may need arches rolling and 40mm sould be ok
Take the wheel off and look, it could be anywhere tbh, all novas are different.

Could be against your shock, rubbing on the arch lip or rubbing the inner arch...
usually they rub the sidewalls slightly on the arch lips with a bit of vigorous cornering
i have corsa sxi rims with 185/55r15's and i had to nip a couple of mm off the rh arch to stop the noise.
ok thanks guys, I might try some firmer rear springs aswell !
The tyres are too big to fit easily within standard arches.

I'm on 195 45 15 wheels, with standard arches, and 60-70mm lowering, without being a maniac they never scrub!

100mm all round 195 45 16 turbo rims no rubbing :)
i think these findings are down to the good old build tolerances
