Are the CD/DVD drives prone to failing on them?

Yes it's one of the components that fail on them.

Every other game ive got works, execpt the new Modern Warfare disc? My console will play it say 1 outta 10 times i try it :S it works fine in all my mates consoles but just hates mine?

Im on the 3rd copy now an they all do the same? Any ideas??

Also, I know where to get a new Elite for £120, that a good price?

Ive owned an xbox 360 since they came out, ive had 3, never had a single problem with the dvd drive, main problem is overheating but ive chopped the xbox up and modded it to stay cool now.

So id say definately NO the dvd drives arent prone to failure.

yeh the disk drives are prone to fail, there are two types, do a google search about them, and it will tell you which is **** and which isnt lol

Damn Microsoft were supposed to fit them with laptop sized drives but that deal went pear shaped so they got the full size jobbers.

sometimes my xbox comes up with a error saying 'disc un-readable' even with a brand new game. I found if you polish the disc with some Autoglym i don't have a problem more:d

I have had the rings of death once, but got it fixed by xbox for free.

Best console ever!

I had RROD once but thats all the problems I've had.

Mine does this, i give it a good beating, it usually does the trick. Hardly ever does it though, the other day i was banging it for a good 10 minutes, then my girlfriend gave it a quick blow and it done the trick!

Well ive just bought an XBox Elite, soif it doesnt work in that console im gonna get the fecking agrys big time!!

Anyone wanna buy a premium edition XBox thats only 12 months old lol lol
