View Full Version : lazer blue 1.4 sr wip
rite after being without a nova for six months i found my self wanting another. so i sold my mk3 astra gsi and went on the look out and came across haggers/vx andys old lazer blue sr which was up for sale again:roll: .
i had always liked the car so i thought i would find out more. so after finding a bit out on here and phoning the lad who had it i sorted a deal and went for the 500:eek: mile round trip to get it.
got there and see all the bad bits people had said about.ie the rusty passanger quarter, rusty battery tray,no roof lining and the cut about sunroof mecanism and a few other bits. but i new what the car was like so i still did the deal and took the 250 mile drive home in it and it got home fine
here is a couple of pics to refresh peoples minds of the car

Wehey, get some up to date pics of it and good on you. Are you restoring her to her former glory.
rite up to date now date of 13th november 09
ive had the car now 3 days now and over these 3 days its had/having a new front wheel bearing a new rear wheel bearing, two rear wheel cylinders, complete hand brake cable, heater matrix, complete battery tray, sunroof and complete mecanism and a roof lining.
plans still to come is get all the body work sorted and a full respray
engine out paint bay and clean and paint engine and really mint it up
and if i can get it half as clean as bretts and nick j's sr's i will be happy
hope you all like the plans and im going to sort some pics asap:thumb:
Looks like its finally in some good hands, jobs that other people just didnt do!
yeah i did think that SRimon that since hagger no ones really spent any real money on it. i also want to no the dirty bugger who took the g-max front shocks off and replaced them with standard shocks with chopped springs

Probably one of the previous owners that has just scammed me by selling me a "1400SR head with bigger valves and solid lifters" which was in fact an injection head with broken hydraulic lifters!!! (Bedford8526)
i think he was the one who ripped the roof lining out and cut the sunroof mecanism just to fit a rear cage thats not even in it.
any actual pics of how it looks now ? im interested to see it after rading the advert (and seeing old pics) so many times
am goin to try and get some pics today of it as ive found my camera but its down the garage having the bits done and its raining it doesnt really look any diffrent from pics above. but its funny how well angled pics make a car look better ie in the rear pic the wheel just covers the rust on the quarter lol
im keeping it for a while lol it needs a loving owner not of 1000 owners on the log book
rite if you have read through you will no that one of the things the car is having done at the sec is a new battery tray so went down and took some pics. the tray was worse than first thought as it had started to rot the fire wall. here is a couple of pics
http://i459.photobucket.com/albums/qq312/xedan/100_0285.jpg
yuk rust
http://i459.photobucket.com/albums/qq312/xedan/100_0284.jpg
so thats wots being done at the sec will have some pics of it finished soon
also why i was down there i took a couple of pics at the other real bit of rust the rear quarter which will be the next thing to be sorted
http://i459.photobucket.com/albums/qq312/xedan/100_0286.jpg
and here is a pic for the people who wanted a pic of how it looks now feeling sorry for its self down the work shop

lol. Once all the krust has been sorted it should be a nice motor once again. What other long term plans Dan?
Engine change etc etc. :thumb:
Its about time someone actually gave this some tlc or a scrapyard, thankfully its got the first option, shame the original owner didnt actually bother to look after it otherwise it wouldnt have been half as bad as it is now :(
I love blue sr's, keep up the good work Dan, I'm sure you'll do it justice

so i got it home after having the tray done and to say the least it was grubby in there so thought i would give the car a proper clean out and i will let the pics do the talking

http://i459.photobucket.com/albums/qq312/xedan/100_0292.jpg
with all the interior out i realised the carpet under lay was soaking wet so with a trip to a friends i came back with a nice dry under lay and started to put back together hovering and cleaning as i went. i was happy to find no rust holes any where even the boot corners are good
http://i459.photobucket.com/albums/qq312/xedan/100_0303.jpg
http://i459.photobucket.com/albums/qq312/xedan/100_0302.jpg
and my 5th alloy yum yum lol
http://i459.photobucket.com/albums/qq312/xedan/100_0304.jpg
then i thought i would tackle the sun roof as the one that was in it had been hacked about.so old one out new one in was quite hard on you own balancing it on your head while trying to get some bolts in lol but done it. next job is roof lining
here's a pic of the hacked sunroof wtf is chopping it like about and it was razor sharp
http://i459.photobucket.com/albums/qq312/xedan/100_0306.jpg
and thats it for now hoping to have roof lining in this weekend
then save up for the body work
here is a couple pics of how the car is on my drive at the mo

Is the roof lining second hand or have you managed to source a new one?
Looking for one for my Gsi but only option seems to be getting one made for it:confused:
Nice work on batt tray etc, be careful parking it in built up area take something off it to immobilize it

well here is a few updates since last time. i had fitted my new sunroof and it was time to fit the dreaded roof lining so me and my bro popped the windows out and set to it and after a couple of hours we had it sorted here is a couple of pics

http://i459.photobucket.com/albums/qq312/xedan/100_0315.jpg
its a little grubby but nothing a clean wont sort:thumb:
then i poppped down to sr jack's to have a nose at his sr he was breaking and ended up comming home with some clear rear lights and some 100mm rear springs.
the rear lights i decided to change a bit so with a bit of masking and tint spray i had them how i wanted them.
take clear rears lights
http://i459.photobucket.com/albums/qq312/xedan/100_0307.jpg
clean and mask up and begin to tint
http://i459.photobucket.com/albums/qq312/xedan/100_0308.jpg
after a few coats and time to dry de mask and finished
http://i459.photobucket.com/albums/qq312/xedan/100_0309.jpg
