nova luxe question

my nova is a luxe and has got the 14nz carb engine when i read up about the modle it says all luxe had 5 gears is this true because myn has 4?

well thats why i ask because it says they were made with 5 gears but there again someone on here told me my luxe would be a single point injection but its not

stick a couple of full car photos up on here, and get a pic of the gearbox from inside the arch, we should be able to give you a full run down of what it actually is.

and i bet they also told you that they wouldn't come in your mouth too.....

the 4 speed will fit the 1300, a 1400 ithink and with a f13 casing a 1600 injection..

i had my first nova 23 years ago, i've been there and done a lot of it..i'll have a look

^ lol, second that, ive seen a few of your posts asking about engines and chips.
you need to find out a bit about the car before u can repair/mod it. :thumb:

I was under the impression all the Novas were 5 speed after 1989, with the exception of 1.0 engines.... evidently not as I keep finding out.
My Luxe+ was SPi & 5speed.

As was mine mike. I think most/nearly all mk2 1.2 novas were 4speed.

Base spec mk2 novas were/are all four speed, my K plate 1.2 spi was a four speed till i swapped it for an SR box for the elusive extra cog :d

Luxe 'should' be a five speed as they had the extra cog, alu window surrounds, B pillar vinyl, interior door cappings and plush velour doorcards, it is however possible that your box has been swapped out for another available box after some form of mechanical failiure so i wouldnt take it as gospel that its the original box as you dont know the cars history!

Mm, my '92 12NV J reg was 4spd too. I was always under the impression merits and other poverty spec jobbers were optional 5spd...

Could have had a box change in the past though. Does the knob (snigger) only have 4 on it?

14nv would be carb...

c14nz is spi, i reckon the gearbox has been changed at some point in the cars life too.

My current Nova started life as a Luxe+ 1200SPi inc 5speed manual

and my previous one was a 1400 SPi Luxe+ with 5 speed box

both MK2's on K an J reg
