1.8TB off a cavalier
1.6Inlet off a Mk3 astra
1.4SPi injector off a 1400spi nova, mk3 astra, corsa etc.

Does your airbox have two or three bolts ontop?
two=spi
three=carb

is this true about the airbox and spi and carb as i am a little confused as i have a 1.4 luxe and i thaught it was single point injection but if this is true it must be carb:confused:

im pretty sure that it is true. just take it off and have a look, if there's an injector then its singlepoint.

well if its singlepoint injection, you'll see one injector underneath the air filter that has a plug going into it. if its carb, there will be no injector - you will just see the throttle flap/butterfly. basically, if its slow then its carb. if its slower then its singlepoint lol

There will be no wires going to a carb

Not even for the choke light? ;)

Carb'd engine will have a mechanical fuel pump driven by the cam, SPi has a tank mounted electric pump. Thats how I would identify them.

Bin lid air filter has a little red tube going to a big 'button' near the intake on an spi, carbs don't... easiest way to identify it without touching anything lol

Umm thats the earth for the actual choke Craig, the 'choke light' wiring is on the back of the actual choke 'knob' inside the car, two brown wires which illuminate the light once joined, but his is a 1400 carb so therefore will be auto choke and wont have a choke knob :p

And the easiest way to identify the engine type is as listed in the first post, if it has two bolts holding the bin lid air box on, then its either a 1200 carb or an SPI, if it has three then its a 1400 carb:thumb:
