i would say cheap is ok but go for your branded ones. i can get just a head gasket for £8 with my discount at our local motor factors!

All i will say is that you get what you pay for !!!!!
Go for a Payen head set !! never had a prob and replace the head bolts too, At the end of the day i would rather pay a little extra, rather than strip my engine back down again!!
cheers

Bought a Head gasket set for a 20SEH and gave it to a mate for him sort out his engine. It was from Halfords and IIRC was QH kit, it had everything except head bolts. Cost £8 (was on sale) bargain as the engine runs fine lol

i was thinking going branded and i agree you get what you pay for. but just wanted to see if it was worth it
Yeah payen are good. try allittmotorsport.co.uk probably the cheapest around.
Another for payen. Dont bother with cheap stuff.

what the hell is wrong with that website. think i will pay the extra. will be worth it.
payen is the most popular one in the uk, elring is the OE supplier, even the main dealer one won't be expensive, whatever your local factor will sell should be ok.
getting decent quality sealant between the cam carrier & the head is more important.
i prefer elring than payen.
i always order elring when building motors up or when people what gaskets

Ive got to say when i built my 1.2 and my 1.4 i didnt use any sealant between the head and cam carrier lol

Just avoid the no name crap ones on ebay, they can be rubbish quality - rusty metal in the head gasket, paper thin exhaust gaskets etc.
you can e-mail Chris at info@allittmotorsport.co.uk I picked some up last night and the price inc botls was around £15 cheaper than my local factors for the same payen stuff

That's the other parts company that I have used for various bits. As long as you go for established and known brands then you should be ok.

It was either the QH of FAI head set that I got for £8 for the SEH. For that price you cant go wrong especially being a quality brand

fai do loads of parts
water pumps
oil pumps etc
springs
wishbones
engine components the lot
i can get them all out the warehouse at warehouse prices instead of paying the extra from motor factors
