i know the gte motor is 100bhp.

just get that, whip off the injection system, put a cam in and then ya twin 40s on.

thats the best idea i came up with for my 1600

Just a little info ere Mike, if ur planning on fitting the 1.6 carb from a cav, ull av 2 do the same mods as fitting a 2.0, the 1.6 carb from a cav is a big block engine!
I think u know bout this already!
As for bhp figures im not 2 sure! would u consider fitting an injection system?????
If i could do it, im sure u can Mike!

You'd be very lucky to get 100bhp out of a gte engine these days which hasn't been re-built.

An un-rebuilt motor will produce about 90bhp.

mike,

my 1600 motor was fully re-built, only cost around ?250 fror new rings, big-end, main and little bearings. also with new oil pump. if you are re-conditioning an engine would recommend changing your oil pump and water pump while it is all in bits.

i also did the valves and valves seats and put in new valve springs and uprated hydraulic tappets in for use with the cam.

its worth a rebuild when doing the conversion just to know everything is on good condition when you put it all back in the car

also some of the 1600 cav engines are a short-block and will fit in on to your existing engine mounts
