oil light

my car drove like a peice of sh*t 2 day...when pullin away nearly stalled a few times...real lumpy and oil light came on at traffic lights, when pulled way it went off

when stopped at next set it came on again

opened the bonnet and ht lead was stuck in my fan...

but aparently my oil pump is gone? makin oil light come on and make it fell like crap??

if the oil pump has gone it needs to be fixed else your engine wont be getting lubricated

how do i know if is deff oil pump? how much are these? are they easy 2 fit??

I keep getting oil and water pumps mixed up but I think your looking about ?60+?

Dont quote me on that though.

(think water pumps at bottom of engine on crank side - cant remember where oil pump is - think its in the sump)

oil pump ant in the sump, tis right near it, just below the water pump.
i did mine when i dropped the 1600i in, cant remeber how much it was bout 30-40 quid i think (not fitted)

so how would i know if is the oil pump or sensor?...car feels real sh*tty

start up and dashboard vibrates....whole car shakes 4 a while...

thats what i get for lettin cowboys loose on the car, should have gone 2 main dealer ;)

Would it be the same problem is the light came on during starting and if it went off just after?

if you say its shakin its probly not running on all 4 cylinders. which would also account for the loss of power.
so im guessing either lead/plug prob, or if its a carb and you have choke on?

from memory you have a gte dont you frog?

it could be knackered or blocked injector

No I didn't make myself clear it stayed on for longer than it used to (about 10 secs), maybe when I pull my finger out and fit a new gasket it will be solved, just thought I'd ask.

check your oil then chris i would. mine did that when it was low

The Oil/Water is now one and the same, I'm sure it was becasue of the Gasket on it's way.

Take off rocker cover

Start engine

See if oill flies all over the place

or just take oil cap off and see if it comes out

I've got a better idea, trap a piece of rag under oil cap, turn the engine over, remove cap and check rag???

yea i do have a GTE, i dont think is the pump anymore, tested all the things

aparently is my sensor and thermostat?

watch the rag dont get caught up on the cam or lifters or anything like that
