fuel restrictions

Having a annoying problem with the nova. its a 1.3 carb engine with mechanical fuel pump.
When the petrol starts getting low but not empty the car starts running lumpy like the motor is being restricted fuel. could a fuel pump being added to the rear of the tank help it get to the engine, or even swapping to a injection tank and pump help?

Maybe dirty fuel tank? My nova 1.2 also had a mechanical pump and never did anything like you've explained. You might have a dirty tank, have you checked your fuel filter?

i could give the tank a clean out. see what happens then.

One way you can find out i to drain the tank, if dirt comes out during the drain then it'll be that.

take the tank off, remove the gauge sender, & get it steam cleaned.
