46K miles, FSH + all previouse mot's, regularly wax-oiled = one very clean metro :d

love it , theres one for sale near kircubbin in NI i pass it alot on the way to portavogie if my nova was finished i would happily sell it for one for a metro .
Get some pics if you can dude, the GTa's are thin on the ground now.
i havent seen one of them in donkeys years lol

top work matey....do for some reason really like these.
I think they're very retro/cool looking personally. Awesome to drive too, it like a mini but feels a bit sturdier lol

Thats the route im going hopefully, 1380cc low comp 16v turbo if all goes to plan ;) Should be getting the bottom end sometime this month.
Nice purchase mate! A mates mother used to have a yellow GT-a, hers had red belts though, is there an 8 and 16v version? I remember there being a difference somewhere lol.

I'd kill for a yellow GT-a, saw one sell on ebay for £1200 IIRC, the austin metro's were a-series engines the same as minis, all 5 port 8 valves. The later Rover metro's were GTA 8 valve 1.4 and GTI 16 valve 1.4. all good fun to drive but i just dont like the look of the later ones, they they do accept VVC's and Vtec engines easily ;)

There's an old skool wooden carb tuner/garage around here that still claims to do hydrolastic suspension refills! lol
Some boyo years back had a white sh1tter with GTa kit and a VVC with n o juice in the suspension. Looked awesome, but I bet it drove like ar$e lol.
I've been cleaning the loft out over the weekend and happned across Transformers, Lego, Construx, Duplo, Matchbox etc but finding my Mighty Metro Scalextric made me smile lol

Wow old skool dude, i used to have a metro GTi for a while obscenely quick for a 1400, there was a lad round here a while back with a 1800 vvc metro GTi that was played with and used to pass scoobies regularly lol
Novafusion has a pair of these round the corner from his house, two brothers own them, ones an 1800 vvc on throttle bodies and the other is a turbo iirc im sure he will clarify:thumb:

theres one of them down ere..totally standard looking. i can see how much work it was to get it too fit as well

I like these. When I was looking for my first car I was looking for either a Mini, Metro GTA or a Nova and bought the first nice one I came across which happened to be a Nova. These disappeared from the used ads almost overnight after that.

Ah shes a beauty gunny!! i love these old metros, probably because of my love for the mini and A series engine as you know! what head are you going to use? i here people are using the heads from an 1100cc bmw motorbike, maybe something for you to look into? i think there maybe a guy round here selling a metro gta been on his drive for a while now.
Cheers guys, Ben, since you pointed me to turbo minis ive been looking into the 16v K1100 head, its an idea but ive not decided yet, looking at the cpec i want, with a 16v head im looking at 200+hp easy. Thanks for the pointer dude those guys really are helpfull like you said, they've cleared up everything i wanted/need to know.

A good mate of mine has a 215bhp Metro GTi. 1800VVC with ITBs etc etc. Eats most things on the road.

Old skool cool right there gunny. A few of my friends shared ownership of a turbo back in the day. Epic car, but soooo unreliable. Loving the subtle bodykit.

Yeh the bodyskit is the same as the turbos apart from the black vinyl by the rear window. The wheels are the same too.

Theres a few GTa's rolling about around here. One is Blue similar to Breeze Blue. I used to get picked up from primary school in a F reg turbo my mates mum had from new. Quite nippy, or so it seemed back then.

I had 2 metrocks (or Metrots?)
One was bright green and I planted it into a landrover down a country lane. the 2nd was blue and was just boring.
Apart from the 6R4s theyve never excited me. Certainly wouldnt own one over a Nova

Ive got Gunny on facebook and he posted up last night that it got taken from outside his house between 10-11pm, so if anyone see's it anywhere inform the feds and or let us know on here.

Just joyriders, they tried to nick an escort just 100 yards away, 7-8 cars were stolen off my estate last night. We haven't had anything this bad for a long time.

Just spotted this thread, was reading through it and was going to ask if you had any security on it as Metros are a joyriders favourite. Then got to the last pages and seen it had been pinched, hope you get it back in one piece.

Glad you got it back mate with no major damage, I'm really liking this car for some reason, looks cool as **** I think.
It has had the passenger door bent out, they reversed it into a lamp post outside the house which has demo'd the boot lid, then drove it off the kurb and dented the sill, so to be fair, its not bad, could of been burnt out or completely written off.

I may do a wip if thats ok with everyone, ive already sourced a white MG Metro thats being broken for parts in good condition so waiting for him to get back to me.

good to here you got it back mate. its still **** that its been damaged though,
may of been worth leaving the car where it was found and keeping an eye on it. i hope you give the little **** witts a good hiding + get a wip up when you get around to it mate.
Yeh we thought about that after bringin the car home ben, tbh im just glad to have it back.
