Looking into starting a long term project, hatch with wide arch kit on, not to everyones taste i know.

iv had a little look around and still not sure on a few things;

which is the best kit to get ? quality, price etc.

is there any company that sells a wide track kit, or do most people build their own ?

or do you just use mega wide/low offset wheels ?

these pics have given me a few ideas;:d:d

what is the cars purpose if and when it gets finished, road/track/weekend toy??

As regards the wide track/wide wheel issue It all depends on what you yourself wants, for a track car the wide wheel route is possibly the most expensive. Any other route is all same same, the wide track kit is the easiest and friendliest option IMO.

Long term projects if i am brutally harsh, 8 times out of ten end up getting broken before being finished. Its just the way of the world. The best 'longterm' projects are the ones that people evolve over time and use inbetween, this way the interest level stays alive. A car sat in a shed for 2 years very rarely gets to see the light of day again in one peice

i kinda meant long term as iv still to finish my SR.
iv always finished any project iv started some have taken a little more time than planned tho !!

just trying to get some info on which kit. ???

i wont be used on a track so i surpose not much point in wide track.

it not often i see pics of someone else's car and think ' i need to build that '
but this is awesome;

What about buying a shell with the kit already on? Like james?

ok i'll extend the opinion of mine regarding the running side of things

Personally I run 225/45/15 rubber on my nova and i wouldnt like it everyday on the road. IF i had to run it on the road then the costs of running this style would go up again as running powersteering would be a given. The wheels are limited in style, as are the tyres. Also costs have to be factored in for far better wheel bearings as i killed one on the first outing lol and its just not worth the risk/hassle of skimping.

The wide track kit isnt a 'motorsport/track' only option. Its the EASIEST route to take for an all round fix on the wide arch issue imo. You buy it/fit it/set it up/ then fit any wheel you so desire with the option of cheap tyres (just like normal) and the ability to change what wheels you run with ease and cheapness.

The search option should bring up results as i know a couple of guys on here have gone widetrack and ordered the parts in

check to see if the rear arches have been expanding foamed to stop water trapping in the arch and rusting

Are you on about the black xe van? Damo i think his name is.

Looked quite tidy, only seen it a couple of times now

Panel fitment and joins. Smoothness of said joins, if anythings been used to fill the gap (fb to metal)

Almost impossible to find, and mega expensive if you can. Plus they always tend to be elsewhere in Europe....

Finish the supercharger conversion 1st you homo.

Worst thing about most wide arched cars is the wheel fitment IMO. Dan got it right on his.
Some people used to chuckk on E30 BMW fitment which goes some way to filling the arches, but then they dont look wide enough & just look like skinny wheels on massive spacers.

If it is for pure looks, I would go semi-wide & open up the bodywork with steel strips, fit a 5 stud conversion & use a wider choice of wheel. Carlton Diplomat BBS style. Get Grant round some more!

Walden engingeering used to do a wide track kit, don't know if they are still going tho.
Using Corsa front TCA's and rack etc with some mods could work with adjustable top mounts

I do indeed and yes your right.lol

Also id be gutted if i sold it and then smacked mine up.......

I think the only time i would sell it would be when i buy a house, even then i would have to be desperate for money.
