Hi guys well finally got another nova after missing them since my last xe.
So i won this little beaut:roll: off ebay for £240 with aload of bits. Have since made £100 back off the so the it now owes me £140 :) .

I came with a dodgy fitting mk1 front end which has all been removed and will be refitted with a mk2 front. The car has had a bump and damaged the front panel so that will be replaced along with seam welding the engine bay.
From looking at it just it will need 4 welding repairs, 1 on both n/s and o/s rear sill where it meets the arch 1 near the front n/s strut and a patch down the n/s chassis rail, not bad me thinks. Am taking it to work on monday to start the welding and paint the engine bay.

Plans are -
seam weld engine bay
fit xe on bike carbs from the belmont
Standard looking outside
15inch steelies
v6 front brakes
fit rear cage and strip out rear but carpet it
maybe some buckets and harness
some decent suspension
paint engine bay boot and bonnet

heres some piccys

mate im fecked off tbh i didnt think the paint was going to come out as glossy as it has the shine is mint! so i masked that up thinking there would be no difference. The chap next door painted it for me but he said to do that ontop of the fresh paint on the bay would leave overspray everywhere, so 1st thing monday im going to mask the bay up and hes goin to paint the bulkhead bit. The difference in colour from fresh miami blue to old miami blue is unreal!! well chuffed though even with the seam sealer that i thought would make it look **** but its quite neat tbh! :d

22-11-09, 10:50 PM
cheers guys yeah was the wrong cv Riggy helped me with a Shaftec number and the new 1 is coming on tuesday, my new exhaust manifold is due tommorow so will get the manifold on

Todays efforts were bleed the brakes correctly after swaping the calipers round lol sorted the gears out, fitted the dizzy and coil just need to sort wiring out now and decide where the fuel pump is going! Picked up a 1.2 rad today until i can get a gsi 1 as the 1.0 rad would fit but wont without to many pipes lol also poped over to Scott Parkers and bought some sand blasted 60mm front springs to go with the rear 60mms i have until i can aford some coilovers! so tommorow will be rad in and all piped up antifreeze in etc etc piccys soon!

well nearly done!! Got back from work and me and me bro (Jordyznova) fitted the new correct inner cv (thanks riggy for joint id number) and fitted the shaft filled her up with box oil and fitted my new front springs, then put the manifold on and rad fan after me bro cut it down abit to stop it hitting and melting on the manifold, connected up my fuel line up to the carbs and fitted the dizzy and leads in hopefully the correct order!! also fitted the clutch, throttle and bonnet release cables. I even cranked her over!!
Ive got te day off tommorow so going to fit fuel pump and then sort wiring out and hopefully get her started and drive her down to work and mate up the exhaust!!

Right todays update -

took carbs apart all seemed ok again but used uransol blue or something like that to seal the no1 carb up as the gaskets abit w@nk. So brought them home and put them on and it went to fire but hesitated and then the battery died grrrr so pushed it down my road and ended up getting it stuck! So me bro came with some jump leads and the 1 pop and i got her back home so as of then no fuel leaking. So now decided to see if i could drive round the block. Had to mole grip the throttle cable as it keeps going to cut out when on idle, so did that and drove round the block doesnt seem to bad nothing to jump around about as its farting and spitting im hoping that after the umpteen times of cranking the plugs are funked. Also need to reset gears as 1st and 2nd are hard to get. And im hoping its the battery thats funked need to see if the altenator is charging. Took some quick piccys in the dark -

But it does also ruin what is a very clean car etc, so with the bonnet the same Colour would look very nice.

If it's running lumpy make sure that the carbs haven't worked themselves loose on the rubber holders onto the inlet, mine use to do this quite often.

Also one of your jets maybe blocked.

Right another update!!

Got the engine all painted and bolted up
Then bolted all the bits up and tried to fit the engine with turbo and inlet attcahed lol:roll: no no no no!

So off came the turbo and the oil feed fitting broke off! I noticed it had been overtitened before and was wary if it was going to break and it did! Managed to get the rest out and hopefully get another asap!

So back up and in went the engine and all fitted up very easy to be honest!

Got all the tie bars bolted up but no shafts yet. Then my mate came round in his corsa let and showed me what went where water breather and boost wise.

Then trial fitted my intercooler and it will go in very easy aswell, ive got a few boost pipes and made up a diy kit with an exhaust tailpipe end i had lying around! Still needs cutting down to fit nice but it will do the job for now! Fitted 2/3 of the loom. Erm . . . loads still to do but loads done!!

Thanks to Jordyznova ,Sam and Philly Portman!

Piccys!! . . .

Yeah mate had to cut the lugs off the bottom ive got to make some new brackers for it and the IC now but cant do that until the turbo and manifold are back on.
Its a Land Rover TD5 IC yeah i can get the rad to sit flush where it origionally sits just about 1 1/2 inch over to the left to allow the n/s IC pipe to poke through!

Went out this morning and got £5 of fuel and some oil and a filter got genuine GM oil for 11.50 from a little motor spares by me! Put the fuel in and cranked it over fuel pump buzzing got a spark etc then cranked it over with n plugs out to get some oil up after wiring up my choke/ecu light and it went out whilst cranking which had to be a good thing lol But i had no fuel and the pump was buzzing so put another £5 in and hey presto out the fuel came!! so i now had pressure at the rail no eml light when cranking with no plugs and a spark .. . . . . . then the battery died! so jumpred it off the mrs saxo and vrooooom!!!!! its alive!!!!!!!!!!! was lumpy on idle but sounded and revved clean!! havig the exhaust welded tommorow lol

heres a very **** video lol

as sloth said pal its a frontera 1 i havent cut the crossmember just the bumper toooo fuke! its a ball ache but basically you have to remove the bumper bar or cut it and the boost pipes hold it in place then the bumper secures it lol
