if they are both carb then nothing.
if they are efi, then internally not much, but externally they might be very different, mpi or spi

No luxe would be MPi? SPI ones the block and head and stuff are the same as 1.4 carb items, converted one myself.

If the Luxe is a carb then maybe the gearbox, but otherwise it shouldnt be quicker. Pub facts?

5speed is probably quicker off the mark, doubt theres much in it really, stop racing.

Engine code will be stamped on the face bit that is where the gearbox bolts up next to the oil dipstick.

f13 would fit fine.

Luxe will be an spi engine. the mpi engines were only in the sri.

Not much, plus you'll have to change the tank ect, just tune the 1.4 spi.

My point john :)

Astra wouldnt be carb? and the best way to tune any nova engine thats less than a 1.6 is to take it out and change it for somthing bigger lol

so what makes the sr faster if theres no difference

prety much just the suspension, anti-roll bars and wheel width make it go a bit quicker round the bends. the front bumper and rear spoiler might add a tad more aerodynamics for straight line speed too.

gearbox ratio's might be slightly diff also, but most probably the same wide ratio as yours if his box is an f10, your just missing top gear for an extra coupla mph.

all sr's are carbed, yours will either be carb or spi. if yours is carbed, its either just old and tired or it needs a service/tune up to keep up with his. if its spi, then i think youll be down roughly 15 horse and that'll be your reason he's cruising off lol

the 1.6 nova gte is mpi too by the way. or if you were talkin about the mk.1/mk.2 astra gte, they didnt come carbed either, they all had 1.8/2.0 mpi's.

As already said, just tune the 1.4 spi, till you can afford to insure bigger.
