Hi All,

Quick question regarding the brakes on my 1.0litre. Basically when i start driving in the morning the brakes are fine but after about 5 minutes of using brakes (traffic lights and the sort, not heavy) the NSF caliper wont release. this is the second caliper i have put on the car(came off a nova with 18,000 or so), so im thinking it could be something else. have also fitted new flexi hose????

any info greatly appreciated because im having to go down the gears and use the handbrake gently to stop car!

Thanks everyone!

Id say master cylinder, cant see how it would cause it tho :s

As long as you WD40 the brake line bolts then it shouldnt be too hard to change. Can pick up 2nd hand ones for under a tenner too, brand new there under £25 iirc.

Hope someone else helps better :)

Good man AW06

was thinking master cylinder too but couldnt see how it would be doing this?

Maybe Ive just had bad luck with calipers. They are only £25 on ebay(calipers that is) but would be £25 wasted if this does not resolve it.

as said before. Cheers mate

If youve tried 2 calipers and it hasnt changed it at all i doubt its that. Master cylinder is the only thing i can think of, its like its pushing the presure and not releaseing it. Do the brakes feel ok when you push the pedal? pedal returns ok?

Very strange for sure lol

Yep fella got it in one. The pedal is fine and is returning o.k

The brakes work as they should but just wont bloody release.

Im going to have no rear shoes by tomorrow at this feckin rate lol

Cheers

Id go for master cylinder in that case. Nova braking systems arent that advanced! lol

What brakes are you using, is it the standard nova stuff? If it is i would find some brakes off a corsa and swap them over. Be done for the cost of a new caliper if you get second hand stuff.

Will stop much better as well

I had this happen on a *itroen *axo and never bloody solved it.

New caliper (twice), new flexi hose, new strut (in case it was a hub bearing problem.)

....In retrospect... and by a process of elimination.....maybe it was the master cylinder. Though how this could occur is a mystery to me.
