Aren't they essentialy the same engine, but with the bore & stroke altered? So based on that theory then they would be fine.
Also if it helps, I understand that you can use a square tooth belt on a round tooth pulley, but not the other way round!

just jump in the cav buss and come and get the belt iv got here, you will be home by 9.30 lol
What?
Whats snapped? Alternator belt? Cambelt?
1200 and 1300 carb engines use the same shape belt teeth, so w/pump etc SHOULD be identical

Nab ones deffo round and ones square. epic phail tho, the spare belt I thought I had for the 1.3 was my old cav belt. New belt to buy tomorrow, woopwoop...

Would the heaight of the block be different (length of belt)?

No, I thought that and offerred the dead belt u to my 1300 block and it's the same height
the actual blocks are the same height, sticking s/h water pumps in is a dodgy practice, cos they are usually knackered once you manage to get them out.

Blue silicone ;) lol I know it's not best practises but cosidering the cirumstances and the fact the engine will be out anyway within 3 months I wasn't too bothered
Blue silicone ;)
Excellent choice, although I do prefer the "OEM" look of black myself lol
partco and baynes still list the round tooth belt, its £12.

I've paid 8 for a square tooth, and when the 1.3 goes in shortly I'll swap it all back over
