View Full Version : China blue = Miami Blue? True?

Hi there,
Been searching round for some miami blue (272/17L) paint for a while now and have given up! However I contacted a guy on ebay (he maybe on here?Vauxhallgreenparts/keith) and he told me china blue is the earlier name for miami blue...Just wanted to check before I brought anything.

Nah I think china blue is a proper shade of blue found on mk1s.

Are you looking for it in tins or rattle cans? I always had to have rattle cans mixed up specially for the colour.

Yer thats what I thought. Rattle cans would be good just for now (small repairs, touch ups and maybe colour coding the bumpers) although I would be looking at getting a full spray the end of next year. Thanks.

e243 is china blue.

motip has 2 variations, and both suck.

i had mine specially mixed at a local place.

PS: I have to have the rattle cans mixed by halfauds if i want miami blue, otherwise its specialist unfortunately.

paint places may have different names for the paint colour, my local for example has porto blue, rather than royal blue

your best going to a local paint shop, they'll have colour strips so you can make sure its a match

I get my miami blue rattle cans from vauxhall. just takes a day to come in. only looking at just over £3 for a can.

Yer definatley miami blue (colour codes taken from VIN Plate and checked against the brilliant list on here (sorry cant remember publisher).

Halfords can also mix the paint into cans, so you can use it with spray guns.

Miami blue one is indeed mine, Cheers :). China blue is owned by lynz on here.

Most paint have 3-4 shades, this is why buying Halfords say rattle cans can be crap. As they guess that shade to mix at times.

a few Novas in Oswestry, Lynden has 2, a lad called Nathen has one, a lad called dave has one and theres bound to be a few more

both versions of motip are crap.

i had mine made up at a paint specialist (proper Sikkens laquer), and the motip's are way off.

Getting it made to the shade on your car is all ways the est way! That way its perfect.

I remember buying 2 glazier white rattle cans, one was too pink, the other too grey..
