Okay - the cars getting painted but Vauxhall don't do Vinyl anymore - so I'm left with wtf do I do?

Do I go all yellow, i.e. it's grey at the bottom just now, remove the b pillar vinyl and just have boot vinyl? Like this; - the wheels are going Anthercite too. Anyone any Jam Yellow car pics so I can have a review lol

Find a colour which closely matches the vinyl. Remove rub strips (think those ones clip off). Remove all vinyl. Have car resprayed yellow. Spray on lower vinyl and B-pillar vinyl (try and get textured paint to do it with if not a matt paint will still look good). Put rub strips back on. Buy and fit the genuine boot decal that's on ebay now. Job done.

I've come to a plan - and it's much like you've said:p but I'm going to paint the existing B pillar vinyl and buy Nicks copy boot Vinyl.

Yeah, I've suggested you paint the B-pillars on aswell to match the bottom half of the car. You don't want a mis-match of different shades of vinyl. Will look shoddy!

Although it obviously looks more original with all the vinyl on, i can't help thinking that being all yellow like the first pic looks so much nicer and cleaner.

If everything else is 100% original then id go for the vinyl, if not then id opt for getting the whole car done yellow.

I reakon spraying it on is the best option.

I spent ages searching for gm vinyl, I was well lucky and got a full car set.

Spaying can look as good IMO.

I would put it in my garage, except I dont have one just now & I'd rather the poster was kept flat & pristine... Great taste (apart from the Jordan bit) lol

So long as all the vinyl matches, simply colour match the bumpers to it.
You really need the B pillars in vinyl to retain the look IMO, keep the handles grey etc.

You cant get original (or after market) shaded vinyl - I've been looking for months now.

The vinyl corp do an excellent match but in gloss only.

We have exact copy boot vinyl (and other panels) in the club shop but its matt black so if youre after the original look you'll be waiting for ever.

We can get a custom roll made up - summut like 100 mtr roll = £5k imported!

John - I ordered the mk1 bonnet badge today - should get it in a few days...

John as said before get the tailgate vinyl then paint the sides and pillars to match.

scott.parker

I say paint it John, it will look better, and wont trap the water behind it etc.

Even try using Stone gard on the door/wing bottoms as this is textured too!

okay, was going to try and refresh the bumpers on the Nova but started to think of painting them Anthercite - to go with how the wheels are going, whats the thoughts - messing about with the look or live the dream and go for it.

Go for it, if you dont like it then get another set of bumpers or paint them as close to the original colour as possible.

Always think its hard to get a good finish on the unpainted standard bumpers.

Hmm. Could you use a matt/satin finish lacquer over the top of the vinyl?

You can mix something into the paint to dull the shine. Best speaking to Nick J.
I would fit a new genuine boot decal, new bumpers and plought then paint the rest.
1x new boot decal & 1x new plough here ;)

I've got the boot decal, painting the b pillar and bottoms. Decided not to paint the bumpers and plough as I'd need to do the bump strips too. Just need to clean them all up!
