my rear arches on my nova are getting really bad now.... like hardly no lip ad bubbling all the way along... just wondering how much it would cost around for me to buy new rear arches and have the old ones cut out and new ones welded in well... the re painting is not an issue it jut he cutting and welding as my nova is worth like 1000 pound tops and would just like it to look a bit tider than just thowing it on the scrap pile....:(

with his guestimate IMO. Expect £300 absolute bare minimum.
£50-£100 would see the finished result looking like

My mate just got a quote for his mk3 cav at £900 fitted and painted! there a top notch place so they would do a proper job, they have heard of people who get it done on the cheap but that normally means welding over the top of the old rust.

so then it all falls off when the rust gives way lol

It cant fail on the arches, unless the rust has got jagged edges, in which case you can just put some tape over it. They will only fail it if its a structural area.

the corner of the sil / arch can fail mot as its structural IIRc

Yep, thats were mine failed! lol lol

Arches aren't structural but the sills are, and I believe 6 inches from the chassis has to be solid as well.

iirc I paid 300 to have the ones on my 1st Nova replaced. That was welded, skimmed & primed. No paint.

Just get the bodyshop to match the lines below the rear bumper perfectly. Too many bodyshops make a mess of the swage line below the bumper. My GSi is like this & so is the Sport in the projects section (novacabrio's thread), also many bodyshops will flare the arches out for big wheels & quite literally make the rear end look like that birds ar8e in that pic. Just like my car. Another reason why I am ditching the shell.

so how much would you all say for arches to be cut out amd welded in. no spray job needed? just wanna get a round figure and see whether it worth doing ore not....

You really are best off taking it to a few bodyshops, even on the information you've supplied its hard to tell exactly how much work is needed until its assessed.
