Alreet peeps. I'm looking to fabricate one of these myself. Anyone know if there's any simple plans anywhere on-line? or even a budget one that can be made? Anyone ever made one and has good pics? I've looked on-line and ebay, and they all seem to make silly money second hand.

if it were me i whould make it so the main anchor points is where the bumper bolts to in the chassis leg (ie the bumper beam on the front and rear) as for instructions make it up as you go along all you need to do is measure floor clearances etc and make it the right hieghts etc and no its not mine its just a pic i found for picture ref to make it easier to explain

That's what i was intending to do, use the brackets behind the bumpers to sucure it to. Thanks for the pic though, most helpful fella. :thumb: Just need to sort some sort of bearing to rotate it on.

john, surely you must have a couple of nova back hubs knocking about......

to connect to the bumper mounts, i reckon that you'll need to make brackets that drop down about 1' from the centre pivot, so the centre of axis will be pretty much in line with the top of the slam panel

i would use 45 50 mm depending on the gauge of the metal

make a big cage that bolts to the chassis legs and goes over the roof and get your mates to push it on its side lol

well, scaffold is available quite cheaply if you are prepared to work by torchlight, but 2" box (decent wall thickness) is very strong, if you have an engine crane or stand, they are damned strong & you could copy them

remember that shopping trolleys only cost a quid (or a euro at lidl) & I can assure you that 4 trolley wheels will hold up the 350 odd kilos of a nova shell easily

As mowgli suggest scaffold tube would be ideal just make sure you pump some proper heat in to welds (good penitration if you know what i mean)

I started a similar thread a while ago with the intent of making one of these (click here (http://www.pngclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=125832)).

Have been offered one by a local fella though so I'll just be using this when I need it;

Should be handy when I eventually get started! :roll:

use 2 engine stands with a bar in between to brace them

I need to make me something up to. If you used 2 rear drums how would you go about locking them in place?

I need to make me something up to. If you used 2 rear drums how would you go about locking them in place? well, if you rig up a spare handbrake cable & a bell crank lever(google it) it would be dead easy.

Something very similar to this, i would include a brake (the drum and handbrake cable idea is good) and definitely brace the two sides as below, wheels are also very handy.

Scaffolding would be ideal for some of the structure and if your worried about strength triangulation is your friend (don't go mad though its only a nova) :thumb:
