Ok. Today i trial fitted my side skirts. Where they join, is there always a massive gap?

The front part is right up against the wing..

Sounds silly but are mk1 wings narrower at the bottom? I think these skirts came off a GTE, hence me wondering about the wing.

If people could post some pics of theirs please. lol one of the hazards or building new cars i guess: everything fits as it should!!!

iirc there meant to sit like that mate as mine do and they fit fine

I thought so. Just wanted to get other opinions. lol fit and finish is something i deal with at work all day long. I do forget when working on the Nova that tolerances werent that hot when it was built!!

I think that's just shonky design to be fair, they've probably made it way too short to allow for tolerance+thermal expansion+200% just to make sure lol

They are all like that to compensate for chassis wing tolerances from the factory!

lol just proves the point: tolerances, what tolerances!!! Makes me feel better about my ill fitting front end now!! Cheers for the replies guys.

According to the guy over on mig with the 'airfix nova' thread the specs list a +/- 6mm tolerance either way, i remember as he wasnt pleased about his tolerances of +/- 1mm :eek:


And dont worry pete theyre all like that, you gotta remember they were designed and built out of playdoh by stoned college dropouts lol

the french made their cars different lengths...my mates 106 has a 10mm gap when he fitted gti skirts...

i've always found novas to be very tolerant when it comes to fitting pretty much anything, my skirts on my old A reg had a huge gap
