Are these Vauxhall or special pistons?

The makings are, (incase you can't make them out):

TRN-175-9807-TJG0 02

Agreed, they do look standard, they arn't machined good enough to be aftermarket, and theres no way you'd get performance pistons with things stamped on the top.

Id actually say they're pattern parts as the swirl marks emmiting from the centre give an indication of build quality, there also apppears to be an "06" stamped on the exhaust side?

"06" stamped on the exhaust side?

I read that as a "90"

They're in my 1400 rally engine. I thought it was a 13S block with different pistons but not sure what i've got now.

ks piston online catalogue... full of all sorts of info on gm pistons..

as for your engine, i think it is the good old 1200+1300=1400

a rebored 1300 block, 1300 crank & rods, 1200 pistons. you get a 1400 with about 11.5:1cr

the pattern of the pistons is definitely stock.

What head gasket would that use?

The only identifing marks on the gasket are what looks like 'BP800'

well, a payen bp800 gasket is a 79mm bore for a 1600 8v, e16se

usually you would use the 12st gasket

the 1200 pistons are 77.8mm diameter (std)
the 1300 is 75mm std.

either someone was being careful, or you have an overbore, so the bp800 seems to be a logicall choice.
