Unbeknown to me, i have been driving without insurance for a little over a month now!

When my renewal came through i rang to cancel but changed my mind a few days later and renewed it with some adjustments on mileage. They sent me all the documents and even a letter from a credit company saying how much my monthly payments will be.

I checked my bank statement today and no money had gone out for it, so i went on askmid and found my car was uninsured.

Rang HIC and they said the mileage was adjusted but not processed!

Unfortunately this is the thing with paying monthly, is you have to keep an eye on your payments each month to make sure they're still coming out etc.

that happened to my step dad, got a £120 fine and had to pay £12 a day storage charges until the insurence was sorted out.

Very similar thing happened to my mate but unfortunately for him he only found out when he got stopped for no insurance, his silk violet GSi got impounded and he got summonsed to court.

Turned out it was an error on the banks part which they wouldnt admit, he now has epic points on his licence but did get the GSi back though.

My mate got shafted by Flux. Instead of updating his policy with his engine swap they stopped talking the payments.... Well that's what he claims!

happened to my mother in law, she spoke to insurance company they traced call tapes and re listened thru and she was in the right so sent a letter saying she had asked for insurance but we cocked up and when she gave that to police they threw it out.

sorted now. i had to complete a new quote but they discounted admin fees and was about £80 cheaper than the renewal so not so bad?

my friends dad drove his van for 12months thinking it was insured. then wondered why renewal never came through so rang them up and discovered was never processed in the first place. luckily he never got pulled.

Moral of the story, keep an eye on askmid and don't assume that the insurers will take care of everything.

Mind you, our new works barge - being a company car - isn't on askmid (which means its not on the police database) and the person who "looks after" the vehicle hasn't added it yet, despite my protests

Meh, not my concern I guess as I won't be driving it for a few months. Might have to find out when said vehicle keeper is next driving it and tip off the police to an "uninsured car" :d

As the weekend was in the way, that may have slowed things down. Check again tomorrow morning and if its still not there, ring the insurance company. If you have to, say something like the police flagged it up as uninsured, that may get them moving.
