You cant use the shafts from the calibra no.

Best donor car? Nova already converted.

For once i shall agree with the above, all of the wiring is done and all of the correct shafts and brakes (should) already be there.

If not a calibra is your friend, they look gay and vauxhall only made them so you dont need to break a cavalier for its heart lol

I dont understand it either TBH. I had one. A white valver on 17's.

I used an Astra GTE for my donor. Came up cheap as chips and i made profit when i broke it up! Bonus!

the calibra is mainly just an engine holder. i had both and the rear passengers in the cali needed skin heads and cav was comfy.

calibras are just horrible looking/driving/sitting in and were only made to keep engines serviced for the right nova to come along.

best would be an early astra/cav imo as they would have the v belt setup, but please dont ruin a good one :(

best donor is a late cav sri - you get the later dispac engine, which once deCATed is theoretically the most powerful. it is also cheaper to insure as most companies base the insurance on the donor car, and the SRi is cheaper than either GSI astras, GSi cavs or the 16v calibra.

If Calibra's were only built as donors, why did they bother putting ecotecs in them  lol lol

IMO Calibras are OK. Up until a few years ago they still looked pretty fresh.

Best donor is early astra GTE.

best engines (20xe), they have the single V pulley set up and the looms are better to use in a Nova...

But I doubt you will find a cheap one.

Other than that early Cav Gsi for the single V set up - on the later ones, you need to swap alternator, adjuster and bottom pulley....

it should be against the law to use a astra mk2 as a donor (especially a Champoin)

i'm running a calibra engine. calibra's look good, but the people who own them are sh!t

(overhere the golf mk2, mk3 and the calibra are the chav cars, and the nova is unloved)

My '89 stamped 20XE from an Astra GTE had a double V pulley

Anyway, best donor is this

Thats what I meant - No XE comes with no PAS!

Its just that you can machine them - the multi Vs are useless....
