converting music an videos from youtube etc

saw a thread about this a while ago but cant seem to find it

how do you convert videos from sites like you tube so you can put them on disc etc
an rip music from them if its a music vid for example

I save youtube vids with DownloadHelper in Firefox, then use SuperC to convert to whatever video or mp3 format I require. Bearing in mind music tracks will be pretty shonky quality.

[edit] SuperC can convert ANYTHING to ANYTHING, so long as you have the codecs for it. Oh the number of times I've used it to convert pr0n videos of ex-girlfriends to a format my phone can play :d
