Hi all just a quick question about welding. i have a clark welder can be used with gas or with out. i can get gas from halfords for £10 for a small bottle. problem is the triger on my welder is funked so when i turn the gas on at the bottle it comes out the nozzle constantly. So i have been thinking about trying it with out gas. I had a quick go with normal wire and the weld came out like a aero bar loads of air holes in it. A mate at work told me that you can get gasless wire from halfords and suposedly helps with the small air holes in the welds. Has any body used the gasless wire and was it any good?

cheers dave

if your welding the gas will come on so just turn the valve on when your starting toi weld would not advise not to use gas as welds turn out poor and weack

don't use gasless, yes, you'll get less air holes, but you get a hell of alot more splatter and welds are crap, just get a new trigger?

i turn the gas on and off when i weld but one of the bottles dont last that long. i have looked into parts for the welder but cant find much about. A friend had the same welder and the same thing had happened to his so i think it is a comon fault. I was kinda thinking gasless weldeing would be pants. Does anyone know where i could get a larger bottle? Better value for money maybe

you can buy an adapter to convert to big bottles

can you not take the trigger apart and see why its sticking?

as said, dont use gasless. utter poop.

try find an industrial supplier local to you, i wouldnt be able to use a big bottle with mine as the supply pipe is too small for a different regulator.

edit: let nova might be right. :)

you may have to buy a complete torch if you can't find the trigger seperately

Don't get the machinemart one, i nearly did, then i found i could get a regulator for it too on the bay, link above

for gas, the cheapest is pub gas, theres no rental on it, you just pay whatever, then hope you can find a victim to fill it when its empty
