Is that your baby blue loon? If it is, I actually like that! But anyway where can a set and how much?

Jack
26-10-09, 12:40 AM
No, its my renault blue saloon. Just look on ebay.de - bought mine there for a fiver, which was mostly the delivery charge. lol

wwmnw
26-10-09, 12:42 AM
I don't speak ebay.de :( how hard were they to wire in? Did you have to use more wire or are there some wires ready to use but tucked up?

Jack
26-10-09, 12:45 AM
I cheated, I just have a clear foglamp bulb in one. However I will be having dual fog AND reverse soon. In fact I might make use of my sick leave and sort that... hmm.

Anywoo. If you want twin reverse, simply snip the foglamp wires, and extend the wires from that bulb to the reverse lamp and splice into the wiring. Easier than p!ssing around hunting for wires lol

Bear in mind with no rear foglamp you'll fail an MOT.

[edit] as for speaking de, simply use google translate to find the german for "light" (licht perhaps..) then do a search on that. you'll find the right stuff eventually, just grab titles and search for them. Thats how I find stuff on there.

wwmnw
26-10-09, 12:50 AM
Yeah I'm using google to help with the search, when you do the twin fog and reverse lamps do a write up for it, some may make good use of it, like me for example :thumb: I always preferred twin reverse lights and another fog wouldn't go amiss.

Be careful though as not many of them use paypal and/or wont ship to England.....

I had twin reverse with a euro cluster, except I put a red LED bulb in where the fog should be so it was all legit.

wwmnw

OK OK enough rubbing it in  I looked on ebay.de but found nothing :(

Euro clusters pop up on here occasionally.

You can put mk2 Astra fog lamps into the bumper. Just don't be tempted to use the Peugeot 206 rear fog lamp. Eurgh!

Interesting though putting fogs in the bumper but I'm not sure I would like that, Tim ahh thanks my German is non existent so even using google was proving to be a bitch.

With the Euro ones where are the fog lights or do they not actually come with fogs hence why Craig mentioned putting fogs in the bumper?

The only time you need rear fogs is for the mot imo, so all you need to do is put a standard cluster in for the day.

i have never used a rear fog and i bet half the people on here havnt. yes in VERY heavy fog they might come in handy but half the time all they do is blind the people behind you.

i best get my flamesuit on now :(

Jack

I'd rather play it safe with a rear fog than a reverse lamp. I guess it depends on the weather where people live, but we do get bad fog round here at times

Rysee
26-10-09, 11:46 AM
They are usefull when some tit behind you has fogs on anblinds you on your mirrors wack the rear fogs on and they get the picture

Southie
26-10-09, 11:52 AM
or you could carry one of these in the car if it gets really bad fog. Starsky and Hutch styleee lol

I'd sooner have the twin fog option & no reverse lamp tbh.

i prefer the look of twin reverse , but used to use my rear fogs quite alot on the nova, as the two liitle tail lights dont really give of much light for the retards to see in , heavy fog/rain lol

And we get a lot of rain round here! I put mine on when I'm on the motorway in heavy rain as there's so much spray it may as well be foggy.

I did an article in one of the PNG mags in 1997 iirc showing how to do the twin reverse with Astra fogs in rear bumper.

At the time my mate Jeffery who lives in Holland was able to source cheaply euro clusters and would then send them on to me in the UK. I did the same for him and it all worked well for a couple of years, then novas started getting difficult to find so this put pay to this little scheme.

I now prefer the twin fog look as its more cleaner and who needs a reverse light - even the MOT guys don't!

Hmm still, I like the twin reverse light look, but I see I would have to install a fog somewhere, I thought there may have been one fog already on there somewhere.

I believe Mr Mayhem is offering to be Official PNG European Rear Light Importer lol

Woowoomanawu, if you like the look of twin reverse but don't want to lose the fog, simply put an LED/silvertec bulb in the offside.

...mind you, someone did once tell me one of my reverse lights had blown. So I turn on the foglamp to show him what it is, he then says "you've got a red reverse lamp?" FAIL lol

wwmnw

Mayhem, I may love you if you can get some cheap twin reverse light cluster things, not just yet though as I am low on funds :(

lol @ red reverse lamp lol

Fog lights are only ment to be on with the visibility is under 10meters!

Wrong, contrary to popular belief, foglamps have no minimum visibility level (aside from "serious reduced visibility").

Really? Ive always been told it was the above, either way they only ever need to be used in dence fog.

first sign of fog my fronts go on, then by the time ive considered my rear its too late. also makes me feel hard not using it. pmsl.

Why^? You only need fogs to help you see, wont help at all in light/patchy fog.

main reason being, im not one of these turds that have there fogs on for no reason, even if it does look good. so if i see fog, they go on, as ive got a valid reason.:)

edit: also where i live we do get heavy patches of fog then totally clears out.

Foglights should all have "I'm a" and "tool" in the left and right lenses, so unless it's stupidly thick fog and all you can see is a splodge of light, theres "I'm a tool" beaming out the front of your car batman style.
