Posting on behalf of a friend:

He has a corsa b sri which was an 8v, he's just fitted a e16se engine to the car, wired everything up, but it doesn't seem to be starting.

Checked for a spark, which are more than healthy.

Checked for fuel, which is also good.

But i've just noticed the CTS isn't plugged in round the back of the engine, but there isn't anything for it in the loom, is it supposed to have one and would this prevent the engine from starting?

Thanks, Andy!

CTS is in the side of the head, under the dizzy.

Sounds like the loom might not be connected properly. Try some new plugs & gap them closer.

Is the cam & ign timing OK/correct?

All the wiring seems to be fine buddy, already tried some new plugs mate, any other suggestions?

Just been informed its an spi bottom end would this cause a problem? It does turn over fine however and it is trying to start, but it just wont.

The reason I say plugs is if you have fuel & are constantly cranking it to try starting, you will wet foul them & they will be ruined. Likewise, you must gap them properly aswell. Too big a gap & the spark will be weak & it draws a higher current on your coil etc. 0.6mm (about fingernail thickness) gap.
